Have you ever seen the Freedom Tunnel under Riverside Park? ……. ….. …. … .. #nyc #nychistory #freedomtunnel #uws #iloveny #discovernyc #riversidepark #upperwestside #newyork

The Lincoln Tunnel is an approximately 1.5-mile-long (2.4 km) tunnel under the Hudson River, connecting Weehawken, New Jersey, to the west with Midtown Manhattan in New York City to the east. It carries New Jersey Route 495 on the New Jersey side and unsigned New York State Route 495 on the New York side. It was designed by Ole Singstad and named after Abraham Lincoln. The tunnel consists of three vehicular tubes of varying lengths, with two traffic lanes in each tube. The center tube contains reversible lanes, while the northern and southern tubes exclusively carry westbound and eastbound traffic, respectively.

I'll never get tired of the views once I get into Jersey via this tunnel. You'll feel a sigh of relief for leaving the city. I love NY but leaving it for a little on a daily, weekly or monthly basis is essential. That's another topic. The views of Midtown Manhattan's skyline are captivating once you exit. I take a picture every time. The Lincoln is spacious relative to the Holland Tunnel. For the out of towners, the Holland is another Hudson River crossing located a few miles south of this one. I would say this is my favorite crossing out of the three that connects Jersey to Manhattan.

Let me tell you, if I had to choose between taking the path to Mordor and the Lincoln Tunnel, I'd have robbed that ring from Frodo in the first 5 minutes of the trilogy and sprinted towards Mount Doom.

Its impossible to get in and impossible to get out of that tunnel. Surprised that Pepto doesn't hang billboards outside the entrance with punny takes on the traffic situation.

Google maps stated that I would be at my destination in 25 minutes. It took 25 minutes just to see the tunnel from a distance.

Once again the Port authority found a way to take a bad situation and...
