Went to the park for my nephew's birthday. We bought food & grabbed a table to eat. Everything was going great until I had to use the restroom. I looked at the time while walking over & it was 7:50 pm. There were two gentleman who were reminding the maintenance guy that the restrooms don't close until 8 pm. The men's room door was closed but the women's restroom door was open & the maintenance man made sure to rudely tell me that the restrooms were closed. He had his mop & bucket in tow & had commenced to mop the bathroom & remind me, ever so rudely that the restrooms were closed. He was moving like he was in a rush & didn't care who had to use it! Evidently, this guy didn't care that I really needed to use it & denied me & the two gentleman, admission to the restroom. I've never experienced anything like this before & was taken aback. Unfortunately, I had to go across West Side Highway & use the mini storage facility's restroom. So whatever you do, please make sure to enter the restroom by 7:45 pm because you will be denied entry. At this time, I'm filing a formal complaint because I'd really hate for another young lady to experience his total rudeness &...
Read moreI spend a lot of time here, heck I watched the modern pier being built—before it I watched drug deals going down and hookers being dropped off and picked up at the stub that used to be here. The Trust regularly rents out the pier to largely non-local groups and organizations to make up for budget shortfalls with no notification to those that regularly use the pier. Often security people working for these groups are oblivious to the fact that many of us pay to belong to the company in the boathouse and try to prevent our entry. Aspects of maintenance and and repair are often taken care of only after months or years of dithering, bureaucratic delay and who knows what else. Despite all this it is a...
Read moreA great place, they have food, playgrounds for children, a dog run, fountains, views, and other good stuff.
HUGE cruise ships go by on occasion, you don't realize how long 1,000 feet of ship is until you see one up close like that. You can see the intricate ballet when the tugs are working in concert to get the ship docked and hear the sounds of foghorns and horns and whistles from ships and boats.
And there's convenient aircraft carrier right next door, right next to the SST on the other side and the carrier has a space shuttle on deck along with a good assortment of military planes. Interesting stuff for avaition buffs and kids, old and small.
Part of the Riverside Park, in total a wonderful place in the big city. If you have a good imagination you can hear traffic noise as the gentle...
