Hudson River Park Pickleball Courts — Local services in New York

Correct Address: 12th Avenue and West 34th st (By the water)

Great 4 outdoor courts with a great breeze but couple of things to keep in mind:

A. They need a lot more courts here - By the large number of people playing and/or waiting - They need to create a lot more pickleball courts

B. Reservations - They need to set up an online court reservation system and charge a fee that can go toward building more courts and maintaining these. Way too many people and did not see a lot of folks getting out of the court once they are there.

C. Helicopter landing pad/smog/smell is quite a bit because these are right next to the helicopter pad and the wind brings the smell of gas and pollution towards courts. Why not move the helicopters to the top of the new penn station or...

Love these pickleball courts but beware there is a league playing here on Friday mornings, although organized leagues are banned. Twice we have tried to play on a Friday - the first time they just never let us on a court despite waiting our turn and the second time we got there early and there was one free court but after 20 minutes of play this aggressive guy kept coming onto our court, interrupting our game and asking us our score- trying to intimidate us into stopping playing. It got really unpleasant and we eventually gave up, which is of course exactly what they wanted. I wish whoever manages these courts would do something about this Friday morning league. Great courts right on the Hudson. Played here while in the city and staying a few blocks away in Chelsea. I just popped up on a sunny January afternoon and found 3 others just getting to the courts and then another couple people showed up so we had a couple good hours of play before the sun began to set and we got cold. Surprisingly even with being right on the river and helicopters taking off just a few hundred feet away the wind wasn’t bad at all. I’ll definitely return...
