The Intrepid Museum, located in New York City, is home to the USS Intrepid, an iconic aircraft carrier that served in World War II, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War. As I walked through the museum, I was awestruck by the sheer size and grandeur of the aircraft carrier. The sprawling flight deck and the impressive array of aircraft on display provided a tangible connection to the past.
One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to explore the aircraft on board the USS Intrepid. From fighter jets to helicopters, each aircraft had its own story to tell. The meticulously preserved planes allowed me to gain a glimpse into the experiences of the brave individuals who piloted them. It was truly humbling to stand in the presence of these machines that played a crucial role in defending our freedom.
In addition to the aircraft, the Intrepid Museum offered an informative and moving video show that delved into the history of the USS Intrepid and the men and women who served on board. The show brought to life the challenges and triumphs faced by those who fought for their country. It served as a powerful reminder of the courage and resilience displayed by these individuals in the face of adversity.

The Intrepid Museum provided a platform to honor their legacy and pay tribute to their sacrifices. Read moreWe heard about the incredible Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum for a while but have never had a chance to visit till last week. We could not make it to visit Intrepid in the historical snowstorm in 2016. Finally, we specially paid an exploration visit to Intrepid while we were in New York last week. It was a beautiful sunny day and was absolutely perfect for walking around on the top deck of Intrepid. However if it rained then our visit would be completely disturbed. Anyway if you are looking for a memorable yet mind blogging sightseeing adventure, then you won’t be disappointed to go visit Intrepid.
Intrepid was launched in 1943 and it served in the Cold War, the Vietnam War and as a NASA recovery vessel. It was a humongous aircraft carrier military aircrafts and supersonic spy plane etc…
It was so awesome to have an opportunity to get an up-close look at NASA’s original space shuttle orbiter and a huge collection of historic aircrafts. A special exhibition was launched at the Museum Space Shuttle Pavillion last March this year. Visitors could see the history of the Apollo program and NASA’s current Moon to Mars campaign at “Apollo: When We Went to the Moon” exhibition. It was an educational and informative experience.
There were other surprises waiting for us on Intrepid : a nuclear weapons-carrying submarine where we could see the staff living quarters and the canteen settings etc. We were amazed at how the service men and women lived in the submarine under the big ocean.
We could also observe the world’s fastest and legendary commercial airplane, British Airways Concorde Alpha Delta G-BOAD which was displayed on Intrepid Museum’s Pier 86. Concorde had 27 years commercial history and retired in 2003, three years after the fatal crash in France. Only two of the 20 aircraft built have been preserved and are on display across Europe and North America (on Intrepid).
Like other museums there is always some kids friendly and educational exhibits for their enjoyment. Kids can have fantastic fun by interacting and playing with the exhibits at Exploreum.
The journey of the Intrepid exploration made us feel that the advancement and human civilization was incredibly amazing in the past decades and we wish human civilization will continue to flourish in the years to...
Read moreI’m giving less stars even though I really wanna give it five because there’s so much information here and so much details and just so much history and I love some of the concepts that they have but some things bothered me. First, I’ll start with that I love that you get to see the inside of this ship and they put these recordings like in the kitchen and where they would sleep and you could hear the sounds of people snoring or people washing dishes and it just made it seem so real and you would get like a better picture of what you’re looking at. It’s incredible how many people were in the ship working and living the way that they lived in such tight areas but they made it work. This is definitely a place you have to visit more than once to really absorb in everything that they have. I didn’t go to the submarine because I didn’t have time and the line was more than one hour and I was already exhausted from walking around for 4 to 5 hours. I really enjoyed the 3-D movie screening. The effects are not that strong that you really feel you are flying but it’s enough to get the idea. Interesting story too! I went to the cafeteria and I heard that it’s really really good but I didn’t see anything that I liked!! Also it’s quite expensive. Love seeing the Concorde! Lastly, and the thing I’m most upset about is that I went on the flight stimulator. You have to pay for it and before you go on, you have to take this little course where you kind of learn how to use the handles, but I couldn’t understand it at all. I don’t play video games so to me it was completely new and when I told the girl, I don’t understand what I did she goes. It’s OK just keep your hand on this button and this button and when I went inside, I was by myself and I could not stand when the stimulator was going upside down and the belt wasn’t even tight. It was a horrible experience. Since I didn’t know how to control it I kept turning myself around and around and around. I should’ve spoke to management that day because that is ridiculous. 3 stars because of...
