I had one of the most frustrating retail experiences ever at Ulta yesterday. That morning, I was approved for an Ulta credit card online, which clearly stated I’d receive 20% off my first purchase. I went into the store planning to restock on several items—after spending a good 30–45 minutes gathering everything I needed, I headed to the register expecting a smooth checkout.
Rossanna, the associate who helped me initially, was kind and tried to assist by searching the app for the discount. Unfortunately, the coupon wasn’t showing up. She then called over another associate to help—this is where things went downhill fast.
I didn’t catch her name, but she was short, thin, and had a smashed in face. She seemed annoyed with an attitude from the moment she arrived. After Rossanna explained the situation, her only response was, “Well, she can apply for the card again now in person.” Excuse me? I had already been approved! That “solution” made zero sense and came off as lazy and dismissive. She showed no willingness to resolve the issue, offer an alternative, or even treat me with basic respect as a customer.
So, after nearly an hour of shopping and trying to troubleshoot something that should’ve been straightforward, I walked out empty-handed and incredibly frustrated. The lack of competence and care from this second associate was honestly insulting.
Ulta, do better. If you’re going to promote a credit card and promise benefits, your staff should be trained and empowered to actually honor those promotions. Otherwise, it’s a bait-and-switch. I’ll be seriously reconsidering where I shop...
Read moreI went into Ulta Wentzville with two teens to buy products with their hard earned money; which should be a good experience! Everyone was great at the store until we get to the checkout. The girls were in line and the two employees behind the counter were talking to each other not paying attention, so I motioned the girls over to the register. As we stood in front of the two ladies, one of the ladies (Diane) told the girls, 'there is a line, and you need to go back to the end of the line' where they now had to wait again behind other customers. I told her they were waiting in line and the girls just went and returned to the same line because they are polite. This employee Diane was very rude and age discriminate against these girls. If it was anyone else she would not have treated them that way. The girls felt like they should just put their stuff on the counter and not purchase anything because of her ignorant behavior. The girls shop at ulta frequently and always have received the respect they should receive! They are teens but also know how to treat people kindly and with respect and deserve that in return. Ulta should hire employees who are respectful to ALL customers and not treat them like trash. That makes us want to shop elsewhere. Diane if you dont like people find another occupation. Sincerely a...
Read moreI had an awful experience at this location. I bought a truly item and it was used by someone in the store as a tester. Looked like a returned item that went back on the shelf that’s how much was missing. The manager said it was not their fault that people use new items as testers and because I didn’t have the receipt they wouldn’t let me exchange it for one that was new. I was disgusted when I opened up this item when I got home. I thought because I shopped there all the time and have spent thousands of dollars there this year that they would be nice to me and just let me exchange it for the same item with no problems, but I asked for the manager and she wasn’t there so they made me talk to the sales manager Cameron who wouldn’t do anything about it. She was rude and not manager quality. I am very disappointed in the fact that they don’t stand behind their products. It is a health violation. I will never be shopping at Ulta ever again. Cameron was not helpful whatsoever and when I asked for the corporate number, she didn’t give it to me. She also wouldn’t tell me when the actual Manager was working. They throw away brand new items every day, but don’t help their customers when there’s a problem. I will now be shopping at Sephora and canceling my Ulta...
