My son and I decided to take a class together, and as a bigger 42 year old I thought there was no way I would be able to do it. Master Cho introduced us to the sport, and we had two lessons privately to see if we wanted to join. I'm glad we did! My son and I were both beginners and it can be intimidating when you walk in and see people with black belts and you get nervous however every single one came up and introduced them selves and guided us through the class. As more and more classes went by, I gained confidence, and so did my son. His attitude has changed dramatically, and he has gained self-confidence and shows respect for others. I always looked at Taekwondo as self-defense and a sport, but as you grow in the classes, you learn it's much more. You have an entire class who supports each other and encourages each other. This school has definitely exceeded my expectations and taught me that no matter your age, weight, sex, or athletic abilities, you are always welcome, and if you put effort into it, you will succeed! Just over 3 years later, my son and I both tested for our black belts. Looking back at everything we learned over the years is amazing. Things that I never thought I could do I'm doing. Never doubt yourself because you will be amazed at what you can accomplish when you put...
Read moreWhen we first came, my son was eager to learn and improve in every class. At the belt testings, it seemed everyone got a belt upgrade, no matter what. Towards the end of our membership - the rule changed. If you couldn't break the board, you need to wait until next class to break and then you shall receive. For $100+ per month and $50 every belt upgrade, you can have a fast way to a black belt to brag to friends. My son was not advancing. One of the staff would bring their dog to the classes and was distracting. It turned into a workout club more than a martial arts. It's great for young kids to get some confidence in a trophy, but not to be advancing to a martial artist. I wouldn't recommend. I seen other schools testing and the center for belt promotions. All of the other schools were so much more advanced, skilled, and impressive. In comparison, I was very disappointed that I didn't see this for the West Bend location. There are other martial art locations in the area, I would check...
Read moreChos Martial Arts in West Bend has been a wonderful experience from day 1. We've been involved since 2021 and after having tried a couple other martial arts in the area who were disorganized or didn't return our call, Chos was a no brainer. Both my sons got to try before we signed up to make sure they were ready. they got back to us right away and sign up was easy. Now my oldest is a proud owner of a black belt that he earned all on his own. I've seen him become way more confident, strong, and independent. my younger child joined a few months back and has a yellow belt. He also has improved in his confidence and said "I worked so hard for this". they both look forward to class. The teachers are amazing and great with all types of personalities and skill. A++++...
