CHARROS- BEWARE!!! READ BEFORE BUYING
Got a traje done with Julio, and it took MONTHS. I was quoted 3 months and it took a lot longer than 8 months.
When we went to go pick them up, some were not even ready yet! He had forgotten to make an ENTIRE TRAJE!!!
Terrible work, ripped as soon as my player sat down. This has happened multiple times to multiple players. Also, the measurements are always wrong!! They’re either too short or too small!! This is embarrassing.
Time after time Mariachis in the Chicagoland area order with him then instantly regret it. Over priced!! Mariachis in Chicago look down on Julio’s service and attitude. Order from Mexico PLEASE save yourself the headache.
Julio is CONSTANTLY changing the prices that were previously stated, writes down everything on a notebook without any sort of organization. He can never find it if you ask what was agreed upon. Takes cash to avoid taxes.
From a mariachi who has had MULTIPLE trajes made by Julio. Each one of them turned out terrible, expensive, and most of all, a waste of TIME!!!
If you are ordering only one suit, you might be okay. If it is a special order for multiple trajes, be prepared for a 6 month increase.

Read moreThis shop had the most beautiful tiles from Mexico, at reasonable prices (considering they brought them all the way from Mexico!). The owner showed us his back room which was filled with boxes of tiles. I was able to make lovely magnets with the smaller tiles (priced at 25 to 50 cents) and trivets with the larger 4 x 4 inch tiles (again, affordable at 1.50 each). Some of them had calaca images (Day of the Dead skeletons doing funny things)...and only for 60 cents. The owner had some of those beautiful Talavera sinks that I've always admired in Mexico (and never knew how to transport home). Now I just need a place for a Talavera sink! Fun to browse, buy, and reminisce about visits to Mexico! Ideal after a meal at Nuevo Leon restaurant (not to be confused with the bakery--which is probably also good, but that isn't where we ate). And don't miss the National Museum of Mexican Art down the block....
Read moreI met the owner through a Facebook marketplace meet. He gave me a dtg printer for FREE🤯. I got it home and it works just needs the head exactly like he said. I wanted to publicly thank him for his selfless donation. These machines cost $8000 new😳.I plan on making t shirts with a local Waukegan artist Alex Perez. We have been talking about this for a long time but one of these printer's felt so much out of our reach. Thanks to this kind man now we can continue our thoughts on this endevour with one more piece to the puzzle in our arsenal. muchas gracias y que dios lo bendiga a usted,su familia y...
