First time trying this place out after hearing so much hype and seeing the lines for this place out the door. First the place has no indoor seating, so don't plan on eating in. The woman that asked what we wanted was the most rude employee. She spoke to us as if we had done something wrong right off the bat. She rudely and sternly demanded what we wanted, with an attitude she asked if that was all. She was so intimidating that we were scared to ask any questions or ask for anything more than the meal we ordered. When charged they take my card and ask how much tip we'd like to leave! I couldn't believe they would put us on the spot like that while holding my card and ask that for a To Go order after the rude service they provided. Food: The meal you order has half a pound of meat, small order of refried, a choice of a little refried crunchy taco, and tortillas. They dont have rice, which was disappointing. The meat was semi warm, only a 10 min drive home but was almost cold. The flavor was alright, good but nothing amazing I'd go bragging to anyone about. The beans were actually good. Overall the food was decent, I probably won't be going back due to the customer service. My go to will continue to be La Michuacana, cheaper prices, hand made tortillas, flavorful meats and rice! Consider your choices and don't say I...
Read moreThis place seriously has the absolute best carnitas I’ve ever had in my life. Sure there is usually a wait if you’re there on the weekend, especially Sunday, but the wait is well worth it. A few times I’ve had to wait for a table the owner actually started handing out free tacos to customers who were waiting for tables to open up. Like that’s a hospitality you don’t really see anymore at restaurants. Like if you’re not from Chicago you have to stop here and try the best carnitas you’ll ever have. Not just the carnitas, but everything else they serve up is phenomenal as well. Love the Chicharrón‘s in salsa verde, the brain tacos, give these people all of your money. Highly recommend this establishment for authentic Mexican cuisine if you’re ever in the Pilsen neighborhood, the pink line 18th street stop let’s you out right there too.
Well came back after like 2 years and I’m sad to say you can no longer eat inside but it looked sooo much nicer and of course all the delicious food is displayed for you to select. Can’t wait to...
Read moreBeen a while since I moved out of area. Stopped by this afternoon and picked up a 3 lbs. Very disappointed in what is being produced here now, I know you can do better. Carnitas were VERY DRY and no flavor. Found myself throwing a bunch of salt at the carnitas just to get some flavor. I'm giving them 2 stars in hopes they see this and pay attention to some quality control. Otherwise it's 1 star at best. Also, is it too much to ask to fill salsa containers to at least 3/4 of the way. Opened the salsa container and it's barely half full, didn't turn out to be a huge deal anyway since the salsa was not hot at all anyway. Just thought I'd mention it. But you can't possibly be saving a ton by skimping out on salsa....SMH. Customers will catch on and realize you're trying to be cheap. Might as well not offer salsas if you really want to save. At least you're being up front and honest aboutt it. I will update my review once I return in hopes they can fix whatever shortcomings they're...
