The ice cream here is just okay, you barely taste the flavors that they are supposed to be, do to the super sweetness of all of their products. I tried the cajeta, coffee and coconut ice cream and they were all super sweet. If you like lots of sugar, than this is the place for you. They also sell tortas, sweet corn on a cob and a variety of freshly made fruit juices. Maybe next time I'll try a juice or a torta instead. The staff is friendly here and the atmosphere is kind of laid back.

The store had a wide variety of unique and nostalgic ice cream flavors. Besides ice cream, they also have different fresh postres for sale as well- all very tasty. My favorite was the superman ice cream. Prices are very reasonable. They also offer savory bites, such as tamales, but we didn't get to try those. The vibe is vibrant and energic, painted with extremely colorful and eye-catching decor. A good place to come in for a small bite in Pilsen.

A great authentic Mexican ice cream parlor. This place right in Pilsen is pretty amazing for their great prices. Basically imagine what a Mexican frap from Starbucks would look like... I hope I didn't give them any ideas. The place is accessible but might be hard to get over the 4inch ledge when you first walk in if you have a wheelchair. No public bathroom to my knowledge but they also sell burgers and food at amazingly low prices.

El Sabor de Mexico- this review is a love letter

A note about how your food invites me to the sweetest memories I have from Mexico.

As a native New Yorker, and someone who frequents this spot when I’m in town, I can’t let go of how good this food is. The small bites and fast food here is made so well. Sometimes I sit here and people watch. This spot brings together locals: kids on scooters/ bikes, elderly with newspapers who sit here for hours chatting up the owner or little ones yearning for their cool summer ice cream. It’s a sweet touch to the already poppin’ Pilsen community.

Personally, I love the Agua de Limon y Chia the most. The flautas are crispy and legit, the elote en baso is chefs kiss. These staples are hard to mess up, but you wouldn’t believe how many others truly do get it wrong.

I hope you stay around forever- and if you’re in town- please visit this spot. People...

Amazing homemade ice cream. This paleteria is unassuming from the street and name misleading in that it indicates a popsicle store. However the signage above the door said Homemade Ice Cream and so we decided to try it after we ate at the nearby 5 Rabanitos (also excellent). I can honestly say El Sabor de Mexicon has some of the best ice cream I have every had. The ice cream is rich and creamy. The ice cream is soft, a single scoop very large, and the two flavors we had were delicious. They have numerous homemade flavors, some of which are very unique (try the eggnog) such as snickers, melon, cupcake and coconut. This homemade ice cream is well...

Today, I tried their pork torta. While it was different from what I usually get at a taqueria (I usually get the al pastor), the pork torta here was one of my favorite sandwiches that I've ever had! The pork is pulled pork in chipotle sauce, with lettuce, sour cream, jalapenos, and mustard. It reminded me of a Cuban sandwich.

As for the ice cream, I get the mint. It has a strong mint flavor and plenty of sweetness. Perfect. Just how I like it!

How could it get any better? The prices are reasonable. I got a torta, ice cream, and a topo chico (bottled sparkling mineral water) for $11! I would say that's pretty good...
