Mi Corazon Cafe is a Complete Scam — Don’t Walk, RUN Away from This Place
Let me save you the time, money, and sanity — Mi Corazon Cafe is hands down the worst excuse for a restaurant I’ve ever had the misfortune of stepping into. The food was downright disgusting — soggy, flavorless slop that tasted like it had been reheated from last week’s trash. Nothing was fresh, nothing had any seasoning, and honestly, I’ve had better meals from a vending machine. Every plate was a sad, overpriced joke — small portions thrown together without a shred of care or effort.
And speaking of overpriced, the audacity of this place is unreal. They charge fine dining prices for food that wouldn’t even pass at a sketchy food truck. You’ll drop a ridiculous amount of money just to leave hungry, pissed off, and wondering why you didn’t just eat at home.
But the cherry on top? The service — or should I say the complete lack of it. The server wasn’t rude, but they may as well have not existed. We sat there waiting forever just for water, couldn’t get refills if our lives depended on it, and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone’s attention. We were basically invisible. And when the food finally showed up — surprise — it was wrong, and nobody cared enough to fix it.
And here’s where this place officially lost every shred of respect: THEY ADDED A TIP TO THE CHECK WITHOUT ASKING. No heads-up, no mention of it — just sneakily tacked on a fat gratuity like we owed them for the privilege of being ignored and served garbage. Are you kidding me? You screw up the food, vanish for the whole meal, and then force a tip on top of your robbery? Absolutely unacceptable.
Mi Corazon Cafe is a scam operation. Period. Trash food, nonexistent service, and shady business practices. I will NEVER set foot in that place again and I’m telling everyone I know to avoid it like the plague. Do yourself a favor — stay far away from this place unless you enjoy wasting money and being...
Read moreMi Corazón Cafe, I'll be honest I found this place via TikTok and was intrigued by the drink menu. A party of 4 people, we stopped by on a Sunday midafternoon for some brunch. The drinks were all delicious, from horchata latte to a flan latte and cafe de olla they were all tasty and served at a perfect temperature. We did have to wait initially for a table but it was no more than t minutes and we were seated. It was a chilly afternoon so I'm not sure if their outdoor seating was open but it would have been a cute outdoor area for eating. You walk in and honestly, I was comfortable immediately. Later I learned they are a Latina owned business and everything made sense. The decor is instagram worthy(we found most places in the Chicago area are!) and it keeps with the theme. Their mole chilaquiles were AMAZING and I cannot wait to come back with my family so they can taste these for themselves. The chilaquiles divorciados were VERY spicy, we can handle moderate to hot spicy, for us these were a touch too spicy. When we let the waitress know our food was delicious she asked about these, we had to let her know we just tapped out, too spicy! She told us some people order them even MORE spicy, I love hearing when a place listens to their clients and adapts to their tastes! Our waitress and everyone else we saw working all seemed to enjoy their work and the patrons all seemed to be having a good time as well. Will definitely be back, too...
Read moreI was very excited to visit this little cafe in the heart of Pilsen. I went in on a weekday for lunch. It was not busy at all so I was happy that we were seated pretty fast. Service and food were mediocre at best. I ordered the chilaquiles with mole, beans and chicken. The food was cold and the mole was flavorless and chalky. We also order tacos dorados and the fried concha and my son ordered mini pancakes. The food is absolutely not authentic. To me it felt more like Tex-Mex food. I had high hopes for this place because as a Hispanic/Latino I wanted to support local Latino businesses.
The family sitting next to us were a family of 4. The server was extremely friendly with them (they were not Latino/Hispanic they were white ) when it came time to pay their check the Sever came back with 4 skull cookies one for each person. When we asked for our check the server came back with only one cookie. I did feel unfortunately that the server was not as attentive or friendly with my party. It’s unfortunate really because as a Latino family we always want to support other small Latino own businesses. Very disappointing Mi corazón café. Do better.
I gave it 1 star for the decor and the fried concha. Bottom Line If you’re looking for authentic food and friendly service...
