I’m not sure what everyone else tasted but this isn’t it. This will be my first and last trip here. 🤢
I called in advance to ask their top 3 popular rolls. I’ve been craving Godzilla roll and I went for that and ordered the energy roll. Upon entry, the man taking phone orders at the front didn’t acknowledge me. He pointed to the back and never looked up. Well…. Ok. I placed an order online for pickup and it was ready in under 10 mins even though it stated it would be 20 mins. I waited inside maybe 4-5 mins. The entire time I was there, the man in the front coughed the ENTIRE time. Why is he here?!?! I’m excited for this food, ok. All these great reviews. I never in a million years thought I could have (no one premeditates this) THEE WORST Godzilla roll. It’s impossible to mess that up. It taste… old and underwhelmed. Both rolls had a strange day old taste. Definitely wasn’t the freshest sushi.
I gave it a 2nd star because everyone else was friendly except coughy man in the front and the food was quick even though it was trash. Idk what his deal is but coughing nonstop in a restaurant + rude service from the SAME employee = send his tail home! I knocked off 1 star bc of him and 2 stars bc I was there for the food and it...
Read moreJieyi Sushi in Chicago is a delightful gem for sushi lovers, offering a serene and inviting atmosphere that makes it perfect for a casual lunch or an intimate dinner. I recently visited and was impressed by the overall experience.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly their California rolls. Fresh and flavorful, they were a perfect blend of creamy avocado, crisp cucumber, and tender crab meat, all wrapped in perfectly seasoned rice and seaweed. Each bite was a testament to the quality and care Jieyi Sushi puts into their dishes.
The service was prompt and courteous, with staff members who were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to offer recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant, with its clean and modern decor, added to the overall pleasant dining experience.
While Jieyi Sushi excels in many areas, a slight improvement in the variety of their specialty rolls could elevate the dining experience even further. However, this minor shortcoming does not overshadow the excellence of their staple offerings.
Overall, Jieyi Sushi earns a solid 4 stars. It's a must-visit for anyone in Chicago craving delicious and fresh sushi, especially their outstanding...
Read moreThis is one of our favorite restaurants to visit when in the Chicago area. We walked 2.5 miles to get there at opening time. The restaurant staff is very welcoming. We started with damage, miso soup, and tuna tataki. My main course was kow chicken with white rice. My husband is vegan. He ordered Japanese fried rice w/o egg and the vegetarian roll with ginger sauce. Our food was so plentiful. My tuna tataki had 6 pieces, and the kow chicken could be shared if applicable. The fried rice was also shareable, and the vegetable roll was 10 pieces. They generously refilled ginger sauce and Wasabi requests. We had to box up our leftovers. They even provided some courtesy white rice for the to go portion. Our total with food and a diet coke was $72. Fortune cookies given at...
