I remember coming to this place back in high school and back then it had one of the biggest & yummiest burritos I ever ate in my life. The thing took 2 days for me to eat and I brought it everywhere (trains, buses, school, etc.) It was a pleasant surprise because the place was a dimly lit (pretty much pitch black) dive with an ancient ATM machine and a few tables in the back. I could never find this place again though! It was straight out of a movie as I kept looking around the area over the years and searching the net, but it was simply gone...
Here we are about 7 years later and I stumble across an article about burritos in Chicago. I looked at the description of some places and thought this might be the one. To my delight it was! The place has cleaned up (it actually has lights now!), they turned it into a full sit-down restaurant by adding a lot more tables and expanding the place. Although I laughed because that same ancient ATM that I bet hardly anyone uses is still there collecting dust along the back wall.
They don't have the ground beef burrito anymore, just carne asada. The cashier was eager to take my order (asking me in both Spanish and English.) I got myself 2 super burritos one lengua (beef tongue), and one lomo (ribeye steak). She took my order down and rang my up for one burrito...which I corrected her for (would I have gotten a 2 for 1 deal if I hadn't? Dangit!). They took my credit card quick and easy.
The place was pretty busy, but still had that "divey" atmosphere, but in a good way. I got my burritos in about 10 minutes and was out the door. They're still huge and the restaurant threw in a ton of green pepper salsa. I dove right into these things once I got home. They were both cooked and prepared well, all the ingredients packed tightly together, nothing was sloppy. The lengua blended perfectly with the cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, etc. Definitely will have this again on my next trip. The lomo while still good, I think they didn't make it a super burrito as it was filled with rice or its an entirely different recipe.
Whatever the case this place is going to be in my stable of restaurants. Right now it's the best burrito in my area and completely lived up to the taste I had on my mind all...

30+ years coming to this place in a hate-love relationship.
Food-4⭐ Atmosphere-1⭐ Service-2⭐(getting better, it was zero!)
I remember the times were service was the worst probably in all Chicago while the carne asada tacos were the best probably anywhere !!!
They were the kings and queens of the taco life in Chicago but customer service has never ever been their focus... And they paid the price. They went from 6 or 7 taquerias to ONE, this one!
I'm sure they made MILLIONS in the process, charging for limes, salsa and utensils, and back then CASH ONLY, the only FREE thing in here is the Terrible Service they are well known for. They treated you as if you were " lucky you eat there"
I stopped by yesterday after 5 or 6 years of consciously avoiding spending my money there...sigh.
Cashier was ok. Probably the best I ever got in that place but just ok for a broader standard.
Place ugly as always, bathroom the worst, like all gangs of New York were invited to graffiti the walls. Back to the food, tacos TASTY as only they know how, but the meat was super CHEWY, LIKE TASTY RUBBER BAND and of course, tortillas from Microwave.
We ordered food for 4 people, that's few tacos ($5.75ea !!!) and 2 regula burritos ( $17.50ea !!!) 4 cans on soda, limes and salsa togo. Grand total $ 127 !!! Over $30+ per person !!!??? You can have a full dining experience with wine at Olive Garden for less that money !!!
At times where cash is not longer in fashion Now they take credit cards but they will charge a percentage for use, also, they ask you to;
TIP in CASH ONLY ?!???
REALLY?
I guess this place survives out of hard core fan-customers that enjoy being miss treatment, they like lack of appreciation and they let their wallets being abused... But not...
Read moreAt La Pasadita, it's clear that the focus is on the food. Their five-star reputation is built on the back of their Carne Asada Burrito—a hefty, flavor-packed meal. Yes, I weighed my burrito for this review and it weighed in at an impressive 1 lb 2.5 oz.
The steak is marinated and grilled to create a burrito filling that's both juicy and satisfying, wrapped in a soft flour tortilla with just the right amount of onions and cilantro for a fresh kick.
The side of guacamole is as straightforward as it is delicious—ripe avocados, tomatoes, and onions. It’s the perfect accompaniment to their burrito or the chips, which are always served crispy and warm. The salsa verde brings its own punch of flavor, zesty and with just enough heat to liven up each bite.
La Pasadita's atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe that lets you relax and enjoy your meal. The staff is friendly and efficient, ensuring that your food arrives quickly and exactly as you like it.
Despite the generous portions, the prices at La Pasadita are surprisingly reasonable, giving you more than your money's worth. The casual atmosphere and the no-nonsense service add to the charm of this local spot.
