Von's Book Shop — Local services in West Lafayette

No other store or local restaurant on or near campus requires masks. But this place doesn't just require them, they are aggressive about it. The owner came out while I was shopping yesterday and loudly told someone who did not know that it is required to wear masks and he wasn't nice about it. They were. And they were very apologetic, unlike the owner.. I was embarrassed for them. I get it, the owner is terrified, but that's no reason to go around loudly policing everyone. Just quietly let them know. Not only is it required to have a mask but they will stop you and correct you if it isn't completely covering your nose. I had difficulty breathing a couple of moments with anxiety. I LOVE this bookstore! And actually it is so much more than a bookstore!!!! I go to purchase stones and chains and jewelry findings for making earrings and necklaces!!! This store is amazing!!! There is so much to see! You must take at least an hour and a half to wonder and look at everything and if you’re going to purchase something in particular you may need to spend a good two-three hours! It’s an older building with nooks and crannies to find with stuff tucked away. The bathrooms are clean but old. I was disappointed my friend and I had to put our masks on after the mandate had been lifted. I found out that all businesses near Purdue are following Purdue’s mandates... but I will still go back bc I absolutely...

This place is not just books. It has a giant section 4 making beads and necklaces it has an expansive book magazine article section there are CDs vinyl even cassette tapes they have great t-shirts and rock and roll Premiere memorabilia this is a staple of West Lafayette and it said that they're going to be tearing it down which is a shame. I've been going there for 20 years and I can't imagine this town without it if you want great books great music great t-shirts and the selection of almost everything that is just beyond anything else we have here in West Lafayette. Of every record store and bookstore I've ever been to in my life this is the absolute pinnacle...
