I subscribed to the $26 fruit and vegetable box with a $10 off discount for the first 4 deliveries. After customizing my second box (1lb of blood oranges, a small package of finger limes, 1 small bunch of basil and 1 bunch of kale- FYI the oranges and kale were part of the original box and I didn’t swap those out) I was sick to my stomach realizing I paid $16 for these 4 items (worse to think that if I didn’t have the $10 discount this delivery would have actually cost $26). When I called to cancel and expressed concern over the high cost I was told the best value for money is to not change out items in the box (uh ok, so I’ll just pay for things I don’t like/eat to be delivered so they can rot in my fridge?) and that part of the cost I needed to factor in was that they were delivering it to my house. I’m sorry but isn’t a big part of a CSA cutting out the middleman/supermarket to provide better value and fresh, from the farm produce to the consumer? Needless to say I called and canceled my subscription. About a week after cancelling I received an billing email for $26, so I had to call them a second time to get my $10 discount refunded. Both times I called the employees I spoke to didn’t seem to care much about my concerns and didn’t really seem to care about keeping my business. Pretty disappointing experience overall since I initially signed up because of health concerns- my chemotherapy treatments make it difficult for me to leave the house to go to the supermarket or farmers market. DO NOT BOTHER subscribing if you want convenience or good produce. They have neither. Signed up for a box of veggies and got a BOX FULL of PESTS. Emailed customer care as soon as the box was delivered. Did not get any reply for days. Decided to call them, the agent replies "the bugs/pest should come right off after you wash them."
I mean what's next? produce with soil? that will also come right off after washing, no? They expect me to clean a full box of produce thoroughly to remove pests. And what if I don't get one out? No one can take that risk with their family? I am not supposed to have pest control systems in my home, that's why I pay my share so you can do the growing and cleaning for me.
I did not take more pics of other produce because I thought this was an "honest organic eat well" brand that would be apologetic about a bad customer experience and process fair refund immediately like most other honest ethical companies do. They offered to refund the amount of the lettuce only which was like 3-4% of the value of the produce that was affected. They fail to understand it's not just about the lettuce. It's about:

Read moreI signed up through work for the boxes a few months ago. I've never had any issues cancelling boxes when we're not around or I simply don't need/want the produce. I usually log in once I get the notification emails to customize my order/cancel and it's been fine. Produce quality also generally just fine, much of it the same I would buy at Nugget for double. We haven't had issues with bugs in our boxes.
We recently had a box stolen from our doorstep (surprising because we are not in a busy area and are pretty tucked away) and I reached out. I received a prompt reply showing the driver's picture of the delivered box. Upon review of our Ring camera, we saw someone come steal the box a couple hours after delivery. I let the company know and notified the police. Even though this wasn't their fault, they credited my payment for that box, which was so greatly appreciated and unexpected.
We rarely have issues with porch pirates where we live, but I was able to easily update our delivery instructions to ring the bell upon delivery. That way I know the box is there and can make sure me or my husband can grab it right away or have our neighbor tuck it somewhere safe.
