City Cruises by Hornblower – Inspiration Hornblower (Sunday Brunch) August 14, 2022 5 Stars out of 5

The restaurant, a 222 foot, three-deck, mega party yacht, is situated on the San Diego Bay. It’s quite the unique venue with stunning views of the gorgeous San Diego skyline and Coronado Bay. A must do while in San Diego!

The brunch started right on time (10:30am boarding time) as we were greeted by a professional photographer who took our group picture. The New York couple in front of us were celebrating their 21st wedding anniversary and soon became a fun couple that we ended up sitting next to. They were excited about how nice their photo turned out.

As we entered the yacht, we were greeted by the captain (Eric) and event manager (Mary). Everyone was full of smiles and very hospitable. Upon entering the main room of the vessel, you are greeted with bottomless champaign or cider (your choice). A very nice touch to start off your morning.

The décor is elegant and has that fine dining formal atmosphere yet inviting to both those who enjoy dressing up and those who are more comfortable wearing San Diego attire (flip flops and shorts). There was an assortment of guests ranging from families to couples celebrating their special occasion. Truly, a venue for all.

The menu offers a wide variety of delicious and mouthwatering choices. I decided to have a taste of just about everything from the french toast drizzled with fresh seasonable berries to the hand carved prime rib. Ryan, the carving chef, made the use of his blade look effortless as he sliced through the standing rib roast. My wife really enjoyed the vast array of desserts on the breakfast buffet.

While they do have a full bar, we stuck to the bottomless champaign provided. The service provided by the stewards, Sal and Jen, was impeccable as they were attending to all of our needs without being overwhelming. Sal was very engaging and knowledgeable. Thank you for the extra touches, Sal! After we enjoyed all the options from the breakfast buffet we took a stroll up to the top deck, where we were pleasantly surprised with plenty of sunshine and spectacular views of the bay. There was plenty of seating provided by belly bar tables and comfortable lounge seating. I couldn’t help but notice Keisha (steward) walking around the top deck with a smile and offering to fill everyone’s bottomless champagne.

While I didn’t partake in the activities, I saw several families playing cornhole and a few other games provided on the top deck. Another nice touch to provide entertainment for all.

After enjoying the views of the bay, the excursion came to an end. We really enjoyed our time on the Inspiration Hornblower. Certainly, a “two thumbs up” experience. When you get a chance, be sure to take in this one of...

Although it was fun there were some things I found to be quit dangerous & also the bartenders weren’t the best and are quit rude. They were 2 older ladies I ask for my shot with no ice the lady told me I have to put ice because we’re on a boat which makes no since & then she went on to say how many times have I road on a boat which was rude because I’ve been on a boat more times then I can remember also the bartender over charged me so maybe they making up prices as they go because she charged $9 for a drink & then charged $11 for the same drink. The boat was wet inside because it was pouring rain outside & they had an electric heater plugged into the wall sitting on the floor surrounded by wet floor. Which was a yikes! I hope they take the time to update their little boat and also there bartenders. Other then that the DJ really rocked the yacht & the other staff members...

Went on cruise July 17th..see receipt.

This is a one hour tour aboard the Hornblower. Easiest way is to take the elevator out front of Delta King and then walk straight to the boat ( no steps or stairs!).

It's a no frills excursion but I love history so i found it interesting. There is a enclosed main deck with air conditioning or you can go upstairs for a more open atmosphere.

They serve cocktails ( i got the bikini martini and my boyfriend got a margarita). Just know they will be a bit pricey. We got some chips and salsa but the chips were stale and broken so we left them. I would suggest bringing your own snacks since it's only an hour. We did enjoy sipping on the cocktails!

It's a relaxing tour which gives you a better insight from the boat. This tour appeared to be good for much older people as well as children.

Its only 32 bucks per person so it's...

I did the "City cruises - sights and sips cruise" and whilst I still had fun, this is what I'd consider false advertising because you don't really see any "city sights", you just see trees on the banks, and perhaps it's not common here, but if you're going to call something "and sips" the price should at least include 1 alcoholic beverage, however because I'd check the details properly, I knew the price was non-inclusive of any so my expectations were appropriate however I was still hoping I was wrong considering the naming. The vibe itself was fun with the DJ playing various music including requested oldies from senior customers. The margarita I had was ok, average really. The only "sight" you see really is the tower bridge which you can view without going on the boat. You do see a lot of water traffic which made it less boring.

Nice relaxing experience and a great day for our grandson (5). He was invited by the super-nice captain to sit in the Captain's chair and steer the boat. He was so thrilled!. Other aspects: It's always nice to be on the water and there is a lot of little things to see - but let's face it: Sacramento is not San Francisco, Boston or New York, so don't expect spectacular sights. It was still fun to observe other watercraft and daring jet skiers passe by, marvel about the different colors of American and Sacramento river and enjoy the calm wooded banks. The crew was friendly and the bar was - not unexpectedly - quite expensive. The inside of the boat feels a little dated and there could be more outdoor space. Overall a good experience.
