FALSELY ACCUSED OF A PACK OF NAPKINS HEIST! Where do I begin? Ikea has been a go-to retailer for many years for many of our household projects. On Monday, November 28, 2023, my wife and I visited the Sacramento Ikea for various items. After self-scanning all of our items and getting ready to pay, a BIG "Random Spot Check" notice appeared on our screen. An employee rushed to our check out and scanned 7 items, then he said he had to scan ALL of our items. He finally said that we had scanned only one package of napkins instead of 2! I found that very odd, since I was the only one scanning, and my wife was bagging. I know self check out can be a source of problems for retailers, so I am VERY careful and methodical when I scan. This process was taking so long, my exhausted wife had to go wait in our car while I dealt with the check out problems. When we returned home I checked each and every item we purchased, and discovered that my ORIGINAL scanning had been CORRECT, and Ikea overcharged me $ 1.11!!! Imagine that! Here's a "thought", why not print out the receipt at the point just before the customer inputs the credit card, and then physically check off the items against the paper receipt with one of those short Ikea pencils, instead of wiping out the original tally and rescanning every item? That way they would have an accurate "snapshot" of what the customer says he purchased versus what was bagged? ANOTHER thought....bring the check-out employees back! This last experience REALLY soured us on ever returning to Ikea, especially since they never even bothered to reply to my letter I sent them immediately after this incident. And now the 5% Members Discount goes away in...
Read moreSo, over the last 4 months I have gone to IKEA in West Sacramento and purchased over $20k of these plastic tiles that connect together for an apartment building that we're working on. I had to run around and ask three different people to help me until I just got a little upset and asked for a manager. Also as soon as I purchased everything and one of the staff helped take it out to my truck to load. They dropped off my items and left and didn't even bother helping me load it in my truck. They said they couldn't help me load it and when I offered to pay them they said that they couldn't accept payment or a tip. So either way I was screwed. If they did help me I could have been done in about 5 minutes but instead it took me nearly half an hour. That's really really disappointing and disgraceful to know that how many other people like the elderly or even some women who don't have the strength, have to struggle to load their own vehicles by themselves.
While I was loading my own items I probably helped out three or four different people who look like they were struggling loading their own items into their vehicles. "Shame on you IKEA" for that, how the hell do you Make so much money from people and yet don't have the backbone to have your employees help these poor people load the items that they just purchased from you into their vehicle. What a great shame and disgrace for this company. Just today I went there and ask them to hold an item for me for 1 hour and they wouldn't even do that. How's this place still open and how is it even getting any...
Read moreI enjoy visiting Ikea. LED bulbs can be expensive,so I shop for them at Ikea.I still purchase the squiggly looking bulbs because they are less expensive then LEDs and the fit in my vent hood lighting, and less costly then old school bulbs. As I walk through Ikea W. Sacramento searching for what I intend to purchase, I also find ideas and color scheme ideas for my next room redo at home (one room at a time, right?😁). My favorite things are small, household items I do not need a plan for. My last trip to Imea was for fabric napkins. They had packs of 4 in medium Grey (which goes with everything) for about $5 a set. The more expensive ones I liked were $4 each (they were larger too). Either one would be a great price for what they are. The gadgets area is always fun to wander and I almost always find a little something to add to my kitchen drawer. Like everyone else, I have a limited budget. So Ikea is where I look for stuff that will look nice in my home, be functional, and last a long time with basic/minimal care. If I want 100% cotton sheets, a basic simple lamp, an inexpensive composite bin, a light or winter comforter you can cover with a different duvet each season, inexpensive microwaveable food containers or dishware, utensils, kitchen knives; if you need something for your home, you should check online and see what Ikea has. Then look at the item in-person and decide if it will fit your needs. I have been shopping Ikea for 20 years. So far, I've been very happy. This is all just my experience, I hope...
