3-9-19 6pm..... ordered 3 dishes. First time here and I was optimistic by the reviews, I wish I wasnt. I KNOW my thai cuisine. First dish is Pad Thai. Needs salt, everything was fresh, had all the rite ingredients but it was almost like eating top ramen, without the flavor packet, just warm noodles with veggies and no flavor. Veggies are crisp, chicken has zero flavor but tender. Tofu had the chance to be awesome, but there was minimal flavor. 2nd dish is the pad see ew. The beef is rubber. Has no sear on the beef what so ever, almost grey and rubbery, very gross. Rice noodles are cooked well but again, everything needs more salt. No flavor on the meat or noodles. I ordered spicy, I dont have anything spicy on my tongue at all. Very bland. Just looks good and has all the rite ingredients, just no flavor. Lastly I had the tom yum soup. This actually is on point with the flavor, rite ingredients and enjoyable, if you eat here, eat the tom yum and you'll be happy. Worth 13 or so bucks? No! All in all, some of the worst thai food I have had in Sacramento and I've been living here for over 20 years. I like to stay at the Hotel rite next to this place on weekends, and I will say I will be eating subway or Jack in the box before I eat here again. Great ingredients. It's just the chef tonight cant control his/her salt and flavor appropriately. The 4+ star rating of this place is by people who dont...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDeserves 0 stars . This isn't real thai food Ive eaten at many thai food restaurants. This is American thai forsure.I ordered panang curry, Tom kha soup coconut rice and Thai Ice tea . I spent $40. They charged me $4.00 for shrimp that I didn't get they charge you extra for choice of protein and vegetables when it is sapposed to be included . I got 0 shrimp 0 vegetables mostly all sauce and bell peppers salt no flavor . It did not even taste like it should . The tom kha soup also charged extra for the ingredients it is sapposed to come with it was not correct no lime kefir leaves or lemon grass more like mushroom soup it was very gross tasting also 0 shrimp that I was charged $4 . Definitely recommend going to a different restaurant that doesn't try to make you pay extra for what your order is sapposed to be . I also thai Iced tea which is my favorite thing to get usually when I order Thai. That was even made incorrectly. It feels like they are accepting orders and just being shady and once the order is out there door its not there problem that is huge cheapskate . I will be going to my regular spots for my thai food at least they don't charge extra and the lowball your order . That is so wrong I wonder how many other people got skimped out on . Don't order from here . Unless you want to get upcharged for every ingredient on your meal and have it made incorrectly and it taste like salt . Shame on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuch a wonderful little place to stumble upon. We were driving home from Oregon and we were looking for some place to eat near our hotel. I was craving noodles and thought a ramen or pho restaurant would work. Without checking the menu we settled on Manaao, solely due to its proximity and high rating. I'm glad we took the chance.
It's located in a small, unassuming shop in a strip mall next to a Starbucks. From the outside it didn't look like much, but the inside had a nice, modern casual decor. The staff members were all super friendly and helpful. I suspect our server may have been the owner, but if not they should definitely give her a raise.
We started with the blanket shrimp and fried rolls. Both were excellent. I got the red duck curry. It was easily the best red curry I've ever had. Served over garlic rice, it was like heaven. My partner got the vegetarian chow mein and blue pea mango sticky rice and loved both of them as well.
It's unfortunate we live so far away. If I lived in the area I'd definitely become a regular. I'm going to recommend them to everyone I know...
