This location was perfect for our 1 night stay just outside the park's entrance. Our very early next morning pickup was so convienent for our tour guide that allowed us get right into the park and on our way to a very memorable day. |Our room was not quite ready on our sl early arrival. This allowed us to wander the various shops nearby, but was ready after a cup of joe and a few gift shops. Our room was spotless, and was very acceptable for an early to bed and early rising with no outside noise. We were able to park right outside our room and also allowed to leave our car there for the day during our tour. When starting to walk to the various shops, we actually met the guy who was cleaning our room. Nice gentleman and told him and the owner that this was the nicest room we stayed so far for the least amount of $$. We also were a bit surprised that as we were speaking with him that a deer and young doe elk came walking up beside the hotel. The gentleman warned to not not go near the elk as she can be a bit unpredictable, but we were able to have an uneventful stay. The beds were comfortable and after reading other reviews about bedsprings, did not have that experience. The pillows were REAL size, not the marshmellow size found throught out the hotels within the park and there were plenty of towels for use as well. We highly recommend this hotel. Now to find a decent resturant in Gardiner would also be nice. We did visit the local grocer and found it to be well staocked for our journey back down to Canyon Village...
Read moreFirst, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. This is not a hotel. It is not the Hyatt. It is not a resort. What it is, is a mom and pop motel. It is clean, no frills and the staff are friendly. We were there for 3 nights. The back area has chairs for viewing the river and wildlife that comes out at dusk. Great conversations with other travelers while relaxing after a long day of sightseeing in the park. We loved it. We were only in the room to sleep. We were there for, well, Yellowstone. The old entry gate is still standing. Get the pass. It was so worth it for the year pass to all parks but 4 days of going to Yellowstone was so worth it. We saw Antelope, Elk and bison. We saw stupidity at its best with tourists walking out to “get close” to a Buffalo. Holy crap these are wild animals people. Get a brain cell. Please!! One family had great grandma, a toddler and a 5 yr old in tow. I mean come on. Great granny??? Anywho, back to the room. They are not fancy but the bed was comfortable and the room cozy. We did especially like the chairs out back. Kicking it while watching the river is the perfect way to end a day. The one star reviewer was probably one of the tourists trying to touch a Buffalo. Not a whole lot going on upstairs. You know what I mean. Oh, was that too mean? Snarky? I don’t think so. Do your research folks. This is a little gem of a motel. Just remember, friendly, clean, no frills, close to the park. You’re there for the...
Read moreThe Yellowstone River Motel had some of the best staff and service ever. I was impressed with how helpful and caring they were.
I was stuck in Gardiner because of flooding in Yellowstone and Livingston blocking all ways into or out of the city. Many hotels turned my family away because they were overwhelmed at the time. These hotels didn’t properly handle the situation with the people who reserved who were unable to enter Gardiner and people like me who were stuck there.
The Yellowstone River Motel gave us a room immediately at a great price. The staff gave us water because of an issue with the tap in the city at the time. They constantly updated us about the road conditions. They came to check on us and the other residents often and were consistently helpful. They were incredibly considerate and caring in the tough circumstances we were all in.
My mom and I were disappointed we could not visit Yellowstone, but our stay at the Yellowstone River Motel was a great experience. I would highly recommend them for a visit on the way to or back from Yellowstone, as I am sure it would be even better in a...
