I was caught in the rain recently and my three year old phone received some water damage on the screen. Since I have not had issues with my phone or other devices before I decided to give the device shop a chance because of their good online reviews. When I realized how expensive it was to replace the screen I was somewhat surprised ($110) for a screen for a phone that cost $200 brand new. Since I needed my phone as soon as possible I went and asked them to change it anyway. When I received it back the home button on my phone was not fitted properly and the back of my phone was not completely snapped on. Not knowing much about phones I didnât think much of it. I just put it in my pocket and was on my way. Fast forward 4 days I take the phone from my pocket and the screen is broken. During this time my phone was not dropped or even slightly abused. So I decided to bring it back figuring there was some kind of defect in the screen. Naturally when I returned I assumed they would stand by their work and fix my phone. They did not. They said the only thing they could do is give me a discount on another screen. $80 instead of $110 whoop de doo. That was not satisfactory. Since then I have done some research online and figured out that the Ill fitting home button was an indication of an improperly fitted screen. This poor workmanship caused my screen to break. So I called the shop and mentioned this. Surprise surprise they get defensive because they know they did a poor job. At this point Iâm sure they wonât help me so Iâm out of my money.
So If you are in a remotely similar position to me this is my advice: If itâs a cheap enough device just buy a new one. (I did a little research and found a better phone online for less than the $110 to replace the screen) Buy your own screen and replace it. Screens and kits to replace screens are far cheaper then their price. ($40) plus the process is fairly simple. If you insist on using this shop. Before you leave throughly look over your device. Make 100% sure everything works properly and fits properly. Make them honest because they have no problems leaving you out to dry.
Re: Thanks for the response. It illustrates how you treat your customers. I did not crack my screen either time though. Consider how I previously had the phone with no issues for years and as soon as I bring it to your shop 4 days later it is broken. I donât have any personal animosity towards you or your business I just would hope that you would stand by your work...
Read moreDonât go here. Their parts are cheap. And Jorge is the only nice one there and me and him became friends. I came four separate times because and was honest and told them I dropped my phone and the lcd on my iPhone XR broke. They fixed it each time for over $150 each time. I admitted it was my fault. Came back a forth time a month after the third time and explained to a different guy that I dropped it around a month ago but just this morning the lcds donât work anymore. He said it wasnât a manufacture issue and therefor the â6 month warrantyâ wasnât valid. There was one crack , on my screen protector not even in my phone, and I was honest like I was the three first times and told this different guy that yes I did drop it but it was a while ago and was unrelated to the lcds not working because it happened over a month ago. He argued with me for 20 minutes and wouldnât just fix my broken lcd and said because of the crack it wasnât a manufacturer issue. There was no crack on my screen only on the screen protector. Donât trust them their parts suck and when they break after one drop your going to have to keep spending money and even when you donât drop it it will still break and their useless âwarrantyâ wonât fix it. They lost a customer and donât let them scam you either . Go somewhere with better quality parts and more friendly and understanding people who reward their loyal customers with the same amount of honesty and respect that...
Read moreI'll admit, I have butter fingers and have used these guys several times pre-pandemic to repair my various iOS devices.
Recently, my kids were running/horsing around the house and managed to drop both an iphone and ipad onto the kitchen floor. As a result, front screens on both devices were cracked pretty much all the way through (FYI- this was in spite of both devices having a case).
After calling to schedule an appointment to drop off on my way to work, I was saddened to learn their NYC locations closed down due to the pandemic shutdown (I live & work in NYC). The gentlemen on the phone (Matt) advised that I could mail them to their Westfield,NJ HQ to which I did. The next day I get a call from Matt with an estimate to replace both screens to which I approved. They proceeded to email me a link to their pay site to pay against. The process of was very smooth and efficient. The Device Shop mailed back both devices via UPS overnight. I have to also point out the packaging was so secure & carefully wrapped, one would think their life depended on it- This shows they take great precaution to ensure nothing is damaged in transit.
Overall very pleased with both their finished work and the professionalism....
