I would love to say that I'm surprised at the other reviews regarding attentiveness, foot scans, super helpful staff and the like, but I'm not. My experience was very different. I already knew what I wanted, so it was just a matter of trying it...and maybe one other option on. It was last Sunday, so I didn't expect the store to be busy as soon as it opened, but it was.
There were 4 salespeople and I was the 6th customer. Although it was only 5 mintues after opening, the nearest salesperson to me already had about 5 options out for an older lady who loved to chat and needed help with just about everything from size to color. He was very patient with her and seemed to be the lead as he instructed another salesperson who floated behind the register to help another customer. He did acknowledge me and said he would help me shortly. About 10 minutes later...as 3 additional customers were now waiting for help, he asked what I needed, I told him, explained why and he was off to the back and returned with the one item for me and 3 additional for our older lady friend.
He returned in about 3 minutes, asked about the fit and asked if he could check my toe. Sure, why not. I asked him if I could see the men's alternative to the shoe because of my wide foot and he obliged. At this point an older gentleman had approached him, I assume stating that he and his friend needed help and that they would be sitting deeper into the store. At this point, the older lady was checking out and it was clear that she was a regular whose son or grandson went to school with another salesperson. Aha!! Now it makes sense all of the attention she got.
My salesperson brought out the men's verison of the shoe I asked for. I asked about the wear of men's vs. women's and he said there was no difference. Shoes should last about 6 months on average. With that, he was off deeper into the store and I never saw him again. He never stopped back to ask how it felt, if I wanted something different...I doubt that he even knows that I purchased the shoe. I was even looking around for him to see where he was but I didn't see him from my vantagepoint. So after about another 10 minutes, it was on to checkout.
The aforementioned other salesperson was back behind the register having a snack and drink. When I walked up, he didn't say a word, just started keying in codes at the register. He didn't ask if I needed anything else, how I was doing, who helped me or anything. He never even made eye contact with me. The only thing he said to me was "cash or charge". He did tell me to have a good day after the transaction though.
Overall, not a good experience. The store was clean, bright, and had lively music playing. I truly felt like everyone else was smiling and happy. I understand that the store was busy at the time, I've worked retail at a shoe store, so I get it. However, every customer experience should be the same or close. I've had similar experiences is Westfield in the past which is why I'm not a huge fan of the area. The only reason I stopped by this location is because they had a specific shoe that I needed for an upcoming trip. Honestly, if I could have left mid-experience, I would have, but I needed the shoe. I'm not even a sneaker person so to spend $165 and have this type of customer experience was disheartening. I would not recommend visiting this location to any of my friends or anyone that looks like me. One other thing. I did have a friend with me, and she felt the same way I did, so it...
Read moreThis was mine and my track team daughter’s first visit to Jack Rabbit. She went looking for new spikes. The young men working there were very helpful and knowledgeable. She had many choices and they didn’t rush her when she kept re-trying on to be sure. We also picked up a pair of compression socks and ankle socks. Once she made her decisions, the salesman mentioned that all full priced apparel was 25% off. I had noticed a sign stating that as we walked into the store as well. She was looking around anyway and found a pair of $45 running shorts which she added to the pile. All told it was a $185 purchase. We were told we would receive a 10% student discount off the purchase as well which was a nice bonus. She joined their free shoppers club which gives you $20 back every time you reach $200 in purchases. All good things. My only negative comment- when I checked the receipt I noticed that we did not receive the 25% discount off the full priced running shorts. I thought maybe because of the student discount they couldn’t do both. Not the case. Apparently that sale ended on Sunday according to the other salesman. This was Tuesday. I mentioned he might want to inform his counterpart, and take the sign down in the front of the store. He apologized but better customer service would have been to offer me the $11. Especially since I made a point of saying we would definately be returning in the future despite the 40 minute drive. And I will return. It’s a great little store!! I’ll just be sure to clarify the sale status before I agree to purchase something extra for...
Read moreI've had two different experiences here- the first time I got my shoe, the salesperson who was helping me was nice and helpful. I purchased my shoes, and tried them out, unfortunately they hurt my ankles, and I decided to exchange them. I was able to exchange my shoes, but the reason why I am giving three stars is because is of my experience with the service the second time exchanging the shoes. A different sales person helped me this time, and I explained to her the situation, I told her I wanted to exchange the shoe and I would need a different shoe, and also that I overpronate according to what the other sales person had said before literally only 7 days ago. She immediately starts telling me that I don't overpronate and is not really listening to me when I am trying to explain to her that literally 7 days ago, another sales person took a video of me running and showed me. I ask her to ask her colleague for another opinion and he points out that I do, and suggests some shoes I should try. I purchased the pair of shoes- but the whole experience left a really bad taste in my mouth. I felt like the sales lady was not listening to me, and was also stuck up. In fact I got such a snotty and unwelcoming vibe this time, that I will not be coming back. Especially when if I'm spending $130 on sneakers and the staff can't even be friendly and nice when helping, and instead...
