I called this establishment from my home (roughly 35-40 minutes away) to verify whether or not I could make a sale today. The woman I spoke to on the phone said I absolutely could so long as the clothes were stored and brought in per their requirements; which they were. I arrived at the store only to be told that I would have to leave and come back in over an hour due to the fact that they had sent at least 60% of their staff on break at one time and didnāt have enough staff on the floor to sort through the items that were coming in. Now, Iāve worked in retail in the past and I absolutely understand what itās like to be short handed due to a lack of staff, but never once have I seen any establishment send over half of their staff on break at one time and then use it seemingly as an excuse to not do their job. In addition to this Iāve sold to this store in the past, or at least attempted to. However I was given back I want to say at least 50% of what I had brought in and ALL OF IT was in better condition than what they had on their racks at the time. Iāve never once had an issue shopping here; hence the two stars. But every time Iāve attempted to sell here it has been nothing but a nightmare. I donāt have names to name as I donāt recall them, but it would just be great to see this place get their stuff together and do better⦠and maybe make some better selections in quality of the things they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI arrived shortly before my departure on my bike journey to sell off good name brand clothing and shoes. I was appalled by the low number of product they took, and claimed āmost of the clothes are not in seasonā when all of the clothes were the same within what they were. They didnāt want winter clothes, but they sure enjoyed adding the $500 embroidered jacket to their pile of clothes they wanted. But refused to take any other name brand winter clothing. Overall there were 7 bags, rebagged 6 bags. 1 bag overall with a very low offer of $85 including the $500 jacket.
This business is not what the radio advertisements claim, the drive time of where I lived, to deliver name brand clothing practically brand new and zero stains, was not cost effective and a complete ripoff!
They arenāt out to help you liquidate your clothing/shoes. They are definitely setup like Goodwill outlets. Take in really good product, google search prices, attach a 50-70% markup and sell it.
When I refused to sell the jacket, it brought the total down to $28
Iāll never waste my time with businesses like this again. Such a crock of a company.
Extremely baffled by the 4.0 star rating too! Must be a lot of āpaidā reviews. Because anyone with a brain can see this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI drove four hours round trip to visit Platoās Closet, hoping to sell some freshly washed, neatly folded, name-brand clothing that was in excellent condition. From the moment I arrived, the staff was unwelcoming and dismissive, making us feel like an inconvenience. There was little communication or courtesy, and the overall attitude felt rude and unprofessional.
After waiting hours, my items were finally reviewed with no explanation given for what was accepted or rejected. To make things worse, the clothes I had taken the time to prepare were returned in a messy, crumpled pile. It was disheartening to see clean, high-quality, trendy clothing treated like it was below their standardsāespecially when it was clear they hadnāt even handled the items with care.
In the end, I was offered barely anything for what I brought in. Considering the effort, time, and distance I traveled, the experience felt like a complete waste. I understand resale stores have guidelines, but thereās no excuse for a lack of professionalism, respect, and basic customer service. I wonāt be returning, and Iād strongly encourage others to consider different, more respectful...
