My boyfriend is currently enrolled in the welding night program. Let me just say, if it wasn't for Peggy in admissions (she is the sweetest, nicest lady), there's absolutely NO WAY I would've let him enroll here without prior knowledge of how bad this program really is. The instructors and students are a joke - no one shows up. My boyfriend is the ONLY one there every day. And if they do show up, they stay for an hour and then leave, or stay out in the parking lot to hang with their buddies like its high school. No repercussions whatsoever. In their handbook they make it seem like they're strict on attendance and the hours needed to complete the program, but that's a joke. Meanwhile, you have students paying out of pocket to be there, even after working a full time job during the day, and no one takes it seriously - not the instructors or students. The time and energy invested in the welding day program/classes is NOWHERE near the same as the time and energy invested into the welding night program/classes. Not to mention, they don't even have scrap metal.. what is there to actually work on or do then?? The only people that were and are still helpful is Dan, the level 1 instructor and Josh, the level 3 instructor. My boyfriend has 3 months left in level 4 TIG and he/we cannot WAIT for this entire experience to be over. I'm sure their HVAC program is far better, but their welding program, specifically NIGHT, needs MAJOR WORK and NEW INSTRUCTORS. ETI is not what it claims to be at all. I wouldn't recommend this school to...
Read moreRead moreI will try to be as factual and unbiased as possible. Pros you get certified as both an HVAC tech and EPA refrigerant handler. These are both huge credentials when landing a job in the industry. If you do the leg work and reach out to the financial dept. they'll get you in a seat one way or another. The text books are nice. The shop and hands on portion is really nice. Thing is you have to motivate yourself. You have to know how to take advantage of what is there. If you're going there for any other reason than wanting to be an HVAC you're wasting everyone's time. The instructors aren't miracle workers. It's fast paced and if you aren't truly into it or not catching on there's nobody there to carry you through. Expect a lot of figuring it out on your own. Cons expensive. Location sucks. No public transportation option. The test are just Preposterous. They are only 10 questions after a whole 2 weeks of content and you can have a good grasp on the subject but get 3 wrong answers and fail. It comes down to a very immature setting where you hang on the instructor's word the day before the test for clues as to what questions to know. Then memorization instead of actual learning. Your on your own to get out what it has to offer. You can't rely on them for anything. Sorry I tried. Got personal anyway. They're there for the money and the politics amongst the staff is very transparent...
Disappointed with the lack of full disclosure of financial aid. ETI should make sure that everyone can afford to be in the program once recruited. Because if financial aid doesn't cover the tuition a person can't work a full time and go to school in order to cover any remaining cost.
ETI promised job assistance to help to pay balance and did not follow through. If a person owe a balance and have two months left ETI will demand the money and if said person doesn't have it the person is not allowed to continue until balance is paid .... they cant return to complete but still owe the balance. As an educator what makes since to me is you get people to the finish line....PERIOD!
ETI should have given this information at the very beginning...no balances after 10 months of being in the program. I am extremely disappointed with programs that do this to ambitious...
