Madisons Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Darien

My wife and I went to Madison’s while visiting Burr Ridge. We saw the reviews and menu and we were excited to try it out. I should preface my review by stating that I am a wheelchair user. That fact is pertinent because the dining room at Madison’s is on the 2nd floor. There is a small elevator when entering the accessible entrance in front of the restaurant. We were surprised at this as it’s not stated anywhere on their website.

We decided to stay and use the elevator to access the dining room. When the elevator got to the 2nd floor, the door wouldn’t open. The staff scrambled to figure out how to get the elevator door open while we suffered inside due to no airflow. Had either of us been claustrophobic, we would’ve had a breakdown in the very small elevator. After 10 minutes or so, a man whom I can only assume is the owner, came and asked us if we had touched any buttons inside the elevator, which we hadn’t. He then asked us to go back down the elevator and get off. He brought the empty elevator back up and opened the door without an issue. He then allowed us to get back on and go up. The door opened and we were able to get off as the gentleman apologized.

We had some wonderful food. A Cuban sandwich and my wife ordered the Bayou shrimp pasta. Both were hot, fresh, and tasty.

When the bill came, we thought perhaps we would be at least offered a free dessert for the ordeal with the elevator. We were not. That was disappointing.

As a wheelchair user, you want to be able to go out to eat with your spouse and be able to forget that you’re different from everyone else. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case...

Madison’s Pub and Grill is a local restaurant that we frequent quite often. The newly updated and remodeled dining area, bar area, and a fresh look for 2020 makes this our lunch choice all the time when I’m in the Burr Ridge and Willowbrook area. Absolutely awesome place to have some fresh scallops, mussels, or oysters, as well as their phenomenal filet Mignon, shrimp 🍤, great burgers 🍔 - great lunch or dinner spot, social atmosphere, super friendly staff and ambiance. Love the food - it’s absolutely consistent and delicious every time! We try different things on the menu all the time and are always satisfied with great tasting food. Thank you for having and hosting us all the time

We’ve been to Madison’s often over the years and it can be a fun place to hang out. Bartender and servers are typically great. Tonight there was a group that was SO LOUD and there are no buffers or noise reduction, so it was downright unpleasant. Their food improved with the (now not so) new owners as did the service and ambiance. Unfortunately they keep changing the best things - the fries used to be amazing - hand cut, fries just right. now they’re greasy tasting crisp twigs- not at all appetizing. And they were out of tater tots Would also love to see them up their salad game - it’s standard lettuces, subpar proteins and really poor salad dressings without any interesting toppings. Would also love to bring friends we know with different food preference or needs - vegan, gluten free, etc., but Madison’s isn’t a good...
