Whoever does the website and marketing for the Sterling Motel in Winona is pretty sneaky. The pictures cannot be the same place. I thought I had found a pretty decent deal but this place is the definition of creepy and shady. Honestly, the website makes it look retro, comfortable and clean. I've stayed at other motels and have never had a problem. I'm all for staying off the beaten track and not staying at super expensive chain places. The staff were courteous, really nice in fact so I almost feel a little bad writing this review. The place is just a total dump. Sanity and safety are the major concerns. The guy we were staying next to must have been living there. He always had the door open and people were in and out including a stray dog. It just felt really shady. Our room smelled like it had recently been sanitized but there is no way it was clean. It was so run down that it just had years of dirt, smoke and who knows what else caked into the floor and furniture. While one of the beds in the room seemed newer, the other was practically sagging into the floor and was loud and creaky. The bedding and carpet were just super old and didn't seem clean. The bathroom mirror had rust stains on it and the faucets were pretty bad too. It reminded me of an old pool shower room. I didn't see bugs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were hiding somewhere. Needless to say we did not feel comfortable staying here so found another place in the area to stay. I really wish I would have read the online reviews before booking this place, it was a waste of time and money (they wouldn't give us a refund for the first night since it was later in the evening which I can understand). I wouldn't have paid $20 a night to stay here so $70 a night was pushing it for how run down the place is and the type of people it was attracting. The website pictures are misleading! I don't know if they had better rooms as we didn't ask, but what we got was complete yuck. I would highly recommend NOT...
Read moreFor a building that is at 80% clothing, not having fitting rooms available was shocking to me. When I asked an associate about it, I was advised to try the clothes on out on the sales floor. When I remarked that I wasn't comfortable I was then offered to purchase the items and then take them into the bathroom to try them on. However, if I did not like them I'd be eligible for an exchange/return. Since I'd selected at least 10 items to try on, the idea of purchasing all of them just to return all of them was offensive.i left without buying any clothing...

You'll find some items priced maybe 10% lower than just buying brand new. At least buying brand new comes with a warranty, or returning and actually getting your money back.
Clearance Walmart clothes with the 2.99 tag still on it, marked for 6.99 at Goodwill. I mean, the absolute audacity of this place.
I've found they sometimes use the price sticker to hide damage, knowing that you can't get your money back. Just a shady,...
