Horrible location. Horrible service. 1st we asked to purchase a table and chairs, they were having an in store promo 40% off. The manager had us sit and wait. After 30 minutes of waiting, she told us to walk around and return. She tells us the items are on a pallet and will be difficult to get too??? Well even though that’s not our problem we were polite about it.
She offered to order the items online at the same in-store promotion for us. Once we got to the car we realized that they ordered them at a promotion of only 30% Instead of 40% and also ordered a set of chairs that we did not ask for. When we went back into the store to ask for it to be corrected they said that we would need to bring the items back once we receive them at home and she could honor the price of the in-store discount. So basically she would need to return them and resell them to us at the correct price.
At this point no apologies have still been given. When we asked to cancel the order we were told we needed to call world market customer care that they could not do it in store. When we called even the customer care department was not able to remove the extra set of chairs or give us the correct discount! The customer care rep said that the discount we were talking about did not exist even though we had pictures and we said that we could send them to her to show her the discount code ??
VERY disappointed in World Market as a whole. Lazy staff. Lazy management. Poor service in store and on phone. Just go to West Elm and save...
Read moreI've been shopping at World Market for years - even going back to their Cost Plus days. On 5/15 I went to the store, which is a 30 minute drive for me to get to. A few things went wrong that day, which matched my previous recent experiences.
I was interested in a home decor item, which wasn't marked. When I requested some assistance, the clerk practically growled at me. She had been working on some stock and apparently the idea of stopping to assist a customer was an irritant.
I strongly suggest you comparison shop with their website before purchasing. I decided to get a tea infuser, which was marked at $10 in store. I found out later when I got home that it was on sale for $7. I later found that with a number of items.
I spent about $100 in the store. The tea infuser was poorly wrapped and broke in the bag. i contacted customer service to see if they would replace it and send me a new one versus having to shlep all the way back & pay about $5 in tolls to exchange a $7 item. Well so far, no response from the manager in the week since I contacted them. Customer service informed me that only the store manager can attend to this issue.
So much for service. If you really want to purchase something from World Market, use their website. Or better yet, find it on Amazon. It will probably be cheaper than what they are charging & the service...

When I went to the store to pickup my order with the confirmation email, the first employee looks at me like a deer in the headlights and then finally calls another employee to find my order. After waiting a few minutes this second employee arrives but has the wrong order. I follow her to the back so she can find the right item and I even offered to just grab it off the shelf, but she said no, that she would find the order in the back. After waiting outside the door for over 10 minutes, I go back up to the front to have someone radio her. I tell the cashier I have been waiting a long time for the employee, and she said the employee had brought my order to the front a while ago. I had been waiting at the door she went into, so the employee must have used another exit even though she knew I had followed her to the back. Now I am finally able to check out after I have now spent over 15 minutes total waiting, which defeats the purpose of ordering online in advance for convenience! Throughout this experience, never did an employee apologize for the inconvenience or even smile. The employees were very unorganized with the online order and also careless about providing customer service. I love the products at world market, but this store needs to improve customer service...
