There's a few things that I look for when visiting and ice cream shop for the first time: #1 Quality. #2 Service. #3 Atmosphere and #4 is Price. I keep price last because the first three determine if it's worth what I'm paying for.
Quality. I had the âParty Animalâ which is a Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Party Animal cookies and chocolate syrup over a Liege Waffle. Really enjoyed the combination of the cold ice cream with the warm waffle. The consistency of the ice cream was smooth but not very fluffly, which gives you a better sense of the actual flavor with fewer bites. They use a belgian mix for their waffles and as a side note; the mix for their Liege Waffle is different from their Bubble Waffle. The Liege Waffle was soft enough to cut through with a spoon but firm enough where it wouldnt get soggy even if the ice cream melted a little bit. It has a more sweet taste as opposed to your standard American Waffles that have more of a buttery taste. The combination is well worth the try because despite all of the ingredients, it was all balanced and not excessively sweet.
Service. If ice cream is scooped, I expect samples. Thankfully, they offer samples here. The staff was very welcoming and patient as we looked through their well-presented menu (with pictures). The owner just so happened to be there and was very friendly. He even gifted us a complimentary Dolly Llama cup when he found out that we had come all the way from almost UCF Main Campus area just to visit their shop.
Atmosphere. Absolutely love how organized everything is behind the counter. Everything is so neat and just satisfying to the sight. There are plenty of places around to snap some good photos. Establishment is clean, the music is not too loud, the colors are vibrant, they have indoor seating, and it feels like an inviting place for the general public.
Price. I paid roughly $10.70 for my Party Animal Liege Waffle Ice Cream.
Overall thoughts? It was worth the 30min drive, every toll, and every penny spent there. I would most definitely take the drive there again in a heart beat. I had been waiting for over 2 years for one of these to open in FL and Iâm so excited that one of the 1st locations is relatively close to me. Cant wait to go back and try their Bubble Waffle Ice Cream!
Update:
Went for a second time and have to say that I'm still as impressed as the first time. This time I got the Ube & Horchata Ice Cream in a Bubble Waffle with Condensed Milk & Fruity Pebbles. And yep, it was as amazing as it sounds. The waffle was fluffy but firm enough to not fall apart when the Ice Cream vegan to melt. Super good and definitely recommend!
We drove all the way from East Orlando (near UCF) and would gladly do it all over again for this place. Excellent quality ice cream, friendly service despite attending multiple customers at a time, and very clean all-around. I especially like that they dont rush to get your order out but rather make sure that you get just what you paid for. Its a very family-friendly place that shows great attention to detail so no customer feels neglected.
Will stop by again whenever I'm relatively...
Read moreWe visited The Dolly Llama on a rainy Monday afternoon and were warmly greeted by William. We ordered the signature bubble waffle, "Dollyâs Dream," which typically comes topped with Ultimate Cookie Monster ice cream, fresh strawberries, brownies, and Nutella sauce. I opted to have mine without the Nutella, and it was still a treat! The Ultimate Cookie Monster ice cream, with its sweet cream base, cookie dough batter pieces, and chocolate sandwich cookie bits, provided a delightful blend of crunchy and chewy texturesâtruly an unforgettable experience.
The bubble waffle was made fresh to order and served in a charming paper cone. Williamâs presentation was so visually appealing that we couldn't resist taking photos, using the beautifully decorated walls as our backdrop.
We highly recommend The Dolly Llama as a fun, family-friendly spot to enjoy ice cream, whether itâs a rainy or...

This trendy ice cream shop is crazy about waffles. Lots of flavors, combos and unique pairings with or without ice cream.
Our personal favorite was the "Shake an' Bake" which included a milk shake (we opted for the dolly llama) and basic waffle with powdered sugar.
Attached are some photos of more elaborate offerings from our second trip.
The place can get a little busy, it's a new ice cream shop - keep that in mind. The service is exceptional and the owner really wants to make sure everyone has a great time.
