Friendly service; rotten meat; decent produce; scary customers.

Went out of our way today to buy skirt steak here. There was some gray looking parts but we bought anyway assuming it was silver skin bc of the high reviews, we couldn’t imagine they were actually bad. Opened the package when got home. The meat is covered in a gray slime and smells like cheese. Hope they will give us our money back. Also it was a $1 more a pound than we are used to paying for skirt steak.

While there, we also wanted to buy lamb chops, but they looked really bad. The sell by date was still a over month away. That tells me they were mistakenly in the refrigerated section but were supposed to be frozen. We dodged that bullet in the store.

The attendant that answered the phone when I called to ask about skirt steak availability was 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful!!!

Produce selection was great but some of it was spoiled on the shelf.

There was a family there that was clearly high. The female was screaming and shoving things she was dropping back in the freezer. The male was staring at the floor without movement for minutes at a time. Sadly they had small kids with them. Not the stores fault of course, but...

I recently visited Mac’s Meat & Grocery / Mac’s Meats & Produce in Winter Haven, and it was one of the best local shopping experiences I’ve had in a while.

From the moment you walk in, you can tell the place is well taken care of — the floors are clean, displays are tidy, and the meat & produce sections look fresh and well-stocked. The vibe is warm and welcoming.

The staff stood out: friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They didn’t just wait for you to ask — they offered advice, helped me locate cuts I was unsure of, and made sure I was happy with what I picked. That level of service adds a lot.

The selection is impressive. Whether you’re looking for everyday staples or something special — steaks, poultry, fresh veggies — Mac’s has a good variety. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality. There wasn’t a feeling of “just average” — everything felt above average in freshness and value.

It’s hard to find a meat and produce store that not only the prices are very reasonable but the staff treat you like family. I’ve been a regular to their meat store for about 2 years now. I’ve tried other meat markets at times but honestly none of them compared to this place. Every time I come they always welcome me and treat me like I’m apart of their family. I recently just had a baby and they watched as I grew along in pregnancy and along the way they always found ways to help me. I even showed up one day with my mom and they welcomed her in.
