My favorite venue in town. Owned and operated by artists who have a great eye/ear for unique musical acts of all kinds, and whose hospitality keeps those acts coming back again. The Blue Bamboo features some of Central Florida's best musicians on a nightly basis, along with national touring acts. They all come to make "the hang" here because they know Chris the owner, (an accomplished Jazz musician who went to high school locally and has played gigs in Orlando for 40+ years) and they are treated like old friends. You will be too. At Blue Bamboo it's all about the music. There's no dance floor, and it's the kind of place where the patrons listen intently and applaud for the solos. Art pieces from local artists are displayed in the lobby. Beer and Wine is available, and the popcorn is free. They are a non-profit that give back to the community! It's a very unassuming building, tucked between storage places and autobody units on a dimly lit backstreet. Parking is in a unpaved lot across the street, but once you're inside you'll be glad you found your way to this great...
Read moreLove this listening room! So intimate with focus on the artists. There is no bad seat in the house. I have seen tens of shows over the last 5 years or so and never been disappointed, from local musicians to international acts. Great "house band" - wish I could play like Walt Hubbard lol. Our local scene is much stronger than many know with some of the greatest musicians found anywhere. Even the free Tuesday night jam sessions are fun and a great way for artists to grow and practice in a live setting. Much love and kudos to Chris and Melody Cortez for creating such a jewel in Central Florida. They have established a United Artists subsidized non-profit venue dedicated to supporting musicians and sharing their talents with the community. If you like live jazz or jazz inspired music, you should visit and...
Read moreThere are no street lights and it's very dark. There are only a few parking spaces near the venue building. I drove into the overflow parking area first. Decided to move closer to the building and went into a hole and heard a scrape of my bumper. Something needs to be done to light and repair that!!!! 😡 The woman at the table is very nice and professional. She said the band was still rehearsing and it would be about ten minutes before the doors would open. I asked about using the restroom. She said they weren't available until the doors opened. Unacceptable! That isn't a good set up. I doubt I will come to any events here in the future. I didn't stay for the performance so my ticket was a donation and price of...
