Office Depot — Local services in Winter Park

DO NOT ORDER TRANSPARENCIES FROM THIS LOCATION!!!

This location's Copy & Print Center seems poorly managed and staffed compared to other Office Depot locations, at least in my recent experience. I order transparency copies via the website on a weekly basis and had for years been obtaining them from the Colonial Drive location near downtown without any issue, but that location recently closed. Since then, I've had no problem ordering transparency copies from the SoDo location and another in Jacksonville recently without issue, yet both times that I tried to order from this Winter Park stire they have failed to provide service despite the order going through online! The first time, they notified me within a few hours that they did not have transparencies in stock. Just today, though, I went in to pickup my order after not receiving any notice for almost an entire day (other locations typically have my order ready pretty early in the morning if I put it in the night before) and when I spoke to the staff at the Print & Copy Center they claimed that Office Depot doesn't do transparency copies at all! When I replied that I've been getting them made for years at various other locations, they claimed that the Winter Park store has never done it nor do they even stock blank transparencies! When I asked if they planned to notify me, they shrugged and said they had until 7pm to send the notice. Everybody just passed the buck and played dumb, basically. When I suggested they remove the capability to order transparency copies via the website for this particular store, the only person willing to take me seriously claimed he would notify "somebody," but I ain't...

Have you ever figured out the right place to go to and when you get there it is just closing? Yep, that was me on Friday. I was speeding through the parking lot , accidentally drove down the wrong lane in the lot (causing a lady to blow her horn at ma and pulled my car to a halt. I ran up to the front glass as another customer was being let out of the store and the employee walked away from the door. My heart was crushed. There was one more customer in the store. She just finished and the employee working with her walked her out. I guess I just stood there in disbelief when Dale said, "Is there something I can quickly help you with." I told him I just wanted to print one document from my flash drive. And just like that, he slid the glass door open so that I could come in.

I was in shock. I started to breathe again. He let me use my flash drive, printed the pages and voila! A local small business owner was allowed to print out material so she could finish up a professional certification class. He was the hero of the day! Not because I got my document copied, not because he was nice, but because I know he was probably tired and wanting to go home. He might have been stretching company policy to be nice to me or put himself in a position to get in trouble. He just didn't do what he could have. After all, another of his co-workers saw me at the glass. She walked toward me and looked right at me (even though she tried not to make eye contact.)

Although I am writing this review a day and a half later, I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude. I never thought 22 pages and a really kind hearted person named Dale would make like super awesome. Thanks...

I needed a photo printed for work the next day. A lot of pressure is on me to complete this seemingly simple task. I went to CVS, Walgreens, AND Walmart, NONE of them could print my picture in 16x20 without cropping people out of my picture, which was a little ridiculous to me. So anyways, around 4-5pm I send in my picture online to Office Depot. I get a confirmation email for same day pick up. It's 4 hours from closing so I decide to grab it on my way to work in the morning so I wouldn't have to make the drive at the moment. I get there at 8 am when they open. I call in to make sure it's ready even though I'm in the parking lot. The employee couldn't find my order in their system anywhere. I went inside to show my confirmation email. Still nothing. Where is it? Where did it go? I don't know, but that's pretty disappointing considering I'm now 20 minutes late to work. She decides to start anew and print it right then and there which was nice and helpful but it took 30 minutes. Now I'm 45 minutes late.

Moral of the story, the picture should have been ready. I had a confirmation for same day pick up from the day before. It was gone, lost and essentially nonexistent save for the confirmation email on my phone. I don't know if having it printed late was better than not at all because of all of the trouble and stress. I'm left still feeling upset. But thankful for the employee who printed it. I guess this would be a one-star review if...
