We had to activate a new phone (we brought our own) since my husband dropped his in a lake. He can't get access to his company email without a certain app that's only on his phone so need less to say, we were stressing out. We thought the store in Winterset opened at 9 (that's what the website said), but when we got there the door said 10 so we just decided to wait. Then we saw another guy walk in at 9:45 so we decided to go ahead and go in. Jerrod was already there and let us know that technically they don't open until 10. We offered to wait, but he said he would be happy to help us, just needed to get logged in. We explained our dilemma and he was very helpful and knowledgeable in setting expectations about the process. To make a long story short, I had switched my device to my husbands number so he wouldn't miss work calls, but other services weren't working like text messages, which is another aspect of my husbands job that was needed. He made sure to let us know that the text messages wouldn't come, from the time the old device "died" to present day. To our surprise, when Jerrod did the switch over, updates and restore, texts starting coming through. Even though names were not showing, the texts were showing up. He explained that the old device must have still been working, even underwater as that is the only way those texts can be received. Either way, we were thrilled. We ended up being there for about an hour and a half, but walked out with both of our phones functioning properly. I even learned of new services US Cellular has, like being able to keep a land line number. They have a device that you can port your land line number over to and you connect a "regular phone" to it. The service works off cell towers like a cell phone does. I will be switching our land line service over now. :) Jerrod was super helpful and very patient. Read moreMy Samsung phone that was only six months old, recently malfunctioned. I went into the USC office in Winterset on Saturday. Jared Neally was the person who worked with me. He was fantastic! He was extremely helpful and really went above and beyond to help me with my issue. At first we thought it was going to be something that would be covered by my insurance. So, Jared gave me all the contact information I would need to have my claim processed by my insurance company. My insurance would not cover the issue so I had to go back to USC and have Jared help me again. It ended up being an issue that Samsung would have to handle. Jared spent a lot of time with me to help me contact Samsung, to get all the information to them and once they agreed that the issue was one they would have to remedy, Jared made sure I got everything I needed to get my phone out to Samsung for repair. He really didn't have to work so diligently to help me, but he did! I appreciate him so much and for this reason I wanted to give him a shout out and to tell his bosses that they are lucky to have him as a sales person/customer service agent at the Winterset store and that he deserves a raise! A big one!!! Honestly, My family and I purchased our last phones at one of the West Des Moines locations, but since I worked with Jared, I will go to whatever store he works for to purchase phones in the future. Jared wasn't only considerate and respectful of my time, but he was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. In my personal experience, this is somewhat of a rarity in customer service. Two months later I’m finding out details that took my bill from $142.00 to $233.00! Seems as though the POS from another store the owner has cared only about making himself look good for getting another sale. If you decide to do business with this company ABSOLUTELY ASK if your representative is assigned to this store or another store.
