I must start by saying I rarely write negative reviews but after what has happened to me I feel compelled. I saw Dr. Banayat on Dec 22 due to having a headache for over a week and thinking I may need a change in my hypertension medication. While speaking with Dr. Banayat he also felt we should change my blood pressure pill. He prescribed Valstran/Hctz. When I saw the name on the prescription I reminded him that since I had previously had gastric bypass surgery I could not have a pill with a diuretic and explained the reasons why. He said the pill would be fine and since he's physician I trusted him (my first mistake). I took the medication for about a week and started getting dizzy. The dizziness was so bad I almost fell so I stopped taking the medication. Since it was New Years Eve I new the office was closed until Tues. I knew I had to wait until then to call. I called on Jan 2nd, spoke with a staff member named Rose who said she would speak to the doctor and call me back. By Thurs I still had not call back so I sent an email through the website they provide their patients. I got no response and no call until Jan 8th. When Rose called she claimed she thought she called me back and then tried to tell me that Dr. Banayat did not think it was the medication. After I told her I had not had the dizzy spells she again said she would have to talk to him & call me back. 2 day later I get a call saying he wants to see me, which is fine. I made an appointment for Jan 11th. There was a power outage on Fri in Avenel area where his office is located. I did not know this so I showed up for my scheduled appointment. I know a power outage is not their fault, however when I showed up the staff was rude nasty & claimed they called to cancel which they did not. It is now Jan 13 and I have not been on hypertension medication since Dec 31st. No effort was made to provide with a hypertension pill. This honestly shows how much the DON'T care about...
Read moreDr Homer has been treating my parent for kidney disease for years. He is phenomenal.
My parent has been very ill and hospitalized since September 2024 (still inpatient) and Dr Homer and his associates are the ONLY clinicians on her medical team that show compassion and care. Obviously they perform all of the required tests (even proactive tests) and collaborate with her hospitalist, but they go ABOVE and BEYOND when is comes to patient care and communication with the family. Being a doctor is 1 thing and being a truly compassionate person is 1 thing and you rarely find a truly compassionate doctor, and he is...
