Wyrd Byrd — Local services in Ypsilanti

Wyrd Byrd is what record shops were meant to be! I had some time to kill so wandered in here. I like to check out what they have sometimes. The owner Sean is so kind and easy to talk with about music. He's been helpful without condescension and it makes the experience way cooler. There is always a board with local events going on, a huge variety of cool music and music videos playing.

You get a sense of community just walking in here although I feel that throughout Ypsi. Solid collection/variety of records, books, zines, CDs, posters, stickers, patches, guitar strings, etc.

I enjoyed what was playing so much that the owner gave me the record. Such a kind thing to do! It had a minor scratch so he didn't want to sell it. I've always wanted to open an art cafe, so I always take notes on exchanges like this. Early Bee gees record and I am so excited to listen to the whole thing. What a gem of a store! I can't believe it took me so long to stop in. Great collection of sci-fi/fantasy books and TTRPG stuff. I picked up a record too. Their record selection is small, but if you are into punk you will find something. My partner is really into D&D and TTRPGs in general, but I don't know anything about them. I wanted to pick something up for him as a gift but didn't know where to start. The owner was so incredibly helpful and friendly and I left with a few things I think my boyfriend will love.
