Bird Dog Baking — Restaurant in Ypsilanti

My husband and I first learned about Bird Dog @ our neighborhood food stand, Green Things Market. I bought one of their baguettes and it was so flavorful and the perfect texture. I hate it when I get my baguettes from the grocery store and the same day they’re baked, they’re rock hard by the end of the night. We wanted more. We went back to GTFC for more and got their jalapeño cornbread muffin and it was also so very delicious! We went back again and come to find out, they only stock Bird Dog baked goods on Thursdays so we were SOL. Today we woke up early to head over to the Bird Dog location in downtown Ypsi so we could tap in to the source. We both ordered the everything bialy w/ cream cheese and caramelized onions and WOW. I’m a life-long everything bagel fan and my first bialy EVER was DOPE AF!!! It wasn’t chewy/hard like a bagel, it’s moist and a squishy and covered in yummy goodness. My husband loved his too. in from WI. made a special stop because we found bird dog via google and were SO excited to give it a try — partially because our daughter works in an artisan bakery in our hometown.

the bread looks amazing. we are looking forward to getting home and tasting it.

the atmosphere was pleasant and clean.

the girl who was behind the counter and waited on us was unfriendly, cold, condescending, and borderline rude.

other than one-word answers to our questions, she offered no input or assistance whatsoever.

i spent $37 and honestly would have spent double that had i felt comfortable asking more questions.

I went here with my dog for a couple of weekends, and everyone was super nice. One of the girls at the register even asked if she could pet my dog. And then today, I'm told that they don't allow dogs. And I told them that they literally have 'dog' in their name. The manager wouldn't even have a conversation with me. How come someone who works there doesn't know this policy? You can't let me shop from your store and then not let me in next time. Disrespectful.

Don't call yourself dog friendly and put dog treats etc. on your doorstep if you can't let someone with a dog order to go which will take 5 min or less. Ridiculous.

Their bialy tastes like nothing also....
