GURUDWARA SHRI GURU KA TAAL SAHIB is situated in the Distt City Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Situated on the National Highway No 2 it marks the holy place of SHRI GURU TEGBAHADUR SAHIB JI. SHRI GURU TEGBHADUR SAHIB JI along with his followers Bhai Mati Das ji, Bhai Sati Das ji Bhai Dyala Ji, Bhai Gurditta Ji, Bhai Udo ji, and Bhai Jaita ji started journey from SHRI ANANDPUR SAHIB. Stopping at Saifabad (Patiala), Cheeka, Jind, Rohtak, Janipur, GURU SAHIB reached here at Agra. GURU SAHIB stoped outside Agra city at this place (GURUDWARA SHRI MANJI SAHIB is situated at that place. GURUDWARA SHRI MANJI SAHIB is situated on the left side of GURUDWARA SHRI GURU KA TAAL SAHIB in same campus). Hasan Alli was grazing goats there. He always used to pray that if GURU SAHIB was going to give arrest to save Hindus then he(GURU SAHIB) can also bless us by giving arrest through us. As by that time Aurangzeb had announced that who so ever will give information about GURU SAHIB will get Rs 500. So Hasan Ali always though that if GURU SAHIB will give arrest through us then he will get that money and it will improve there family financial condition. And also marriage of his daughter will take place. Understanding his wish and further to fulfill GURU SAHIB gave him a precious ring to sell in market and bring some sweets and food from that money. GURU SAHIB also gave him a Shawl to carry sweets and food. Hasan Ali went to sweets shop and showed the ring to the shopkeeper, Shopkeeper got suspicious that how he had such a precious ring and shawl. Shopkeeper reported this thing in Kotwali (Police Station). Kotwal arrested Hasan Ali and asked about those things. Frightened Hasan Ali told the whole story to Kotwal. When Kotwal came here (GURUDWARA SHRI MANJI SAHIB) he met GURU SAHIB and asked that who was he. GURU SAHIB told him that He is TegBahadur. Kotwal Immediately arrested GURU SAHIB and jailed him in BHORA SAHIB situated there. (This Place BHORA SAHIB is situated under the Darbar Sahib in GURUDWARA SHRI GURU KA TAAL SAHIB). GURU SAHIB stayed there for nine days under arrest. Hasan Ali got the Rs 500 as prize. After that GURU SAHIB was taken to Delhi under high security.

Guru ka Tal is a historical Sikh pilgrimage place dedicated to the memory of ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahudar Ji. Guru ka Taal is near Sikandra in Agra. The Gurudwara was built over the place where the Guru Tegh Bahadur offered voluntary arrest to Aurangazeb, the Mughal Emperor. Several devotees gather every year to pay homage to the great Sikh guru ( who was martyred along with his followers for sake of freedom to practice one's faith) in this Gurudwara.
This historic structure dates back to the 17th century. Earlier it was a Taal (reservoir) in the area near Sikandra. It was built in 1610 AD to collect and conserve rainwater in Agra during Jehangir reign. The water of the reservoir was used for irrigation purposes during the dry season. The reservoir was ornamented with stone carvings. This is said to be the place where the Guru Tegh Bahadur laid down his arms to offer arrest to Aurangazeb. The Gurudwara called Guru Ka Taal was built in the 1970s due to the contributions and arduous efforts of Sant Baba Sadhu Singhji "Mauni".
One of the most holistic place for Sikhs in Agra . You will be amazed by the neatness of this place . Every one is so humble and comparative . Lungar is served for hundreds of guests daily and you will be amazed to see how it does. This is the place where Guru gobind singh ji had stayed for some time....it is now a gurudwara and an institution teaching Sikhism to young children...the gurudwara houses the original arrows and weapons of Guru gobind singh ji....there is round the clock food served at the community kitchen (langar)...its simple but delish food....dont forget to donate whatever you wish at the exit of the langar hall. This is for the 3rd or 4th time I am visiting this place. The aura of the place itself gives you a feeling of peace. The Gurudwara is very grand and spread across widely. It is located near the highway. For everyone visiting the Taj Mahal, they can accommodate this as well in their trip.

Gurdwara Sri Guru Ka Taal Sahib is the site where Sri Guru Tegh Bahudar Ji offered his voluntary arrest to Aurangazeb, the barbaric mughal emperor. Guru Ka Taal is near Sikandra in Agra. The Bhora Sahib was where the Guru Tegh Bahadur kept for 9 days.
This historic structure dates back to the 17th century. Earlier it was a Taal (reservoir) in the area near Sikandra. It was built in 1610 AD to collect and conserve rainwater in Agra during Jahangir's reign. The water of the reservoir was used for irrigation purposes during the dry season.
Sri Guru Tegh Bahudar Ji (along with Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Dyala Ji, Bhai Gurditta Ji, Bhai Udo Ji, and Bhai Jaita Ji) started his journey from Anandpur Sahib, stopping at Saifabad (Patiala), Cheeka, Jind, Rohtak, Janipur, Guru Sahib reached here at Agra.
Guru Tegh Bahudar first stopped at where Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib is situated, on the left of Gurdwara Sri Guru Ka Taal Sahib, within the same complex. A poor man named Hasan Ali was grazing goats his there. At the time Aurangzeb offered a reward of Rs 500 for information leading to the arrest of Sri Guru Tegh Bahudar Ji. As Guru Tegh Bahudar was going to submit himself voluntarily he allowed Hasan Ali to benefit from the reward money.
Guru Tegh Bahudar was arrested and kept at the Bhora Sahib for 9 days before being taken to Delhi under strict security. Aurangzeb was a vicous religous persecutor who wanted India to become an islamic state. As Guru Tegh Bahadur stood up for religious freedom and refused conversion he was made a sacrifice and beheaded by a proxy islamic court in Delhi. The mughal empire collapsed soon afterwards.

Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib (Guru ka Taal) in Agra located on national highway Delhi-Agra.
A religious place of Sikh historical significance. The place boasts of visits of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, sixth Guru Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji and the most significant being visit of ninth guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji, who on his way to Delhi for offering his life to save Hinduism from conversions and adoption of Islam by the then ruler Aurangzeb.
Guru ji offered his arrest through a poor shepherd so that he could receive the Award announced by the Mughal empire for guru Ji’s arrest so that the poor shepherd could meet his ends through the award of 500 gold coins.
The Gurdwara in Agra is built on the original cell where Guru ji was kept under arrest for nine days in a cell under heavy guard and security, was later shifted to Delhi under heavy armed forces and was subjected to martyrdom in Delhi where Gurdwara Sis Ganj sahib is built in guru Ji’s memory. The whole Gurdwara Sahib is elegantly built with a majestic elevation. There’s ample space in front court yard , the sanctum sanctorum is placed on elevated first floor flanked by Langar hall and the utility accommodation. There are more than 50 well furnished rooms for pilgrims.
The whole Gurdwara complex is well maintained despite heavy footfall, people visiting from all corners of the globe. Being in the city of Taj Mahal, the place occupies a slot during visit of Agra.
I thank management for their untiring efforts to maintain such a precious historically important religious asset.
