The problem is not so much with the store but with the amount beers. There are so many beers you never heard of and unless you do your homework you just are looking at labels. Half Time should start some sort of rating system with their customers and give points for rating beers and display the info inside. Otherwise you are just checking out cool labels trying whatever and who knows it may be gone next trip there. There is just confusion on the multiples of each beer type.It was cool 10 years ago when craft beers starting getting everyone's attention but now there are simply too many. Grocery stores now have whole aisles of beer if Half Time is going to stay in business they need to up their game otherwise, bye bye then it becomes a price war with DeCicco's. Maybe start selling hamburgers there with the beer. Sorry but you said it yourself the items change weekly hence things that were there last trip are gone next trip unfortunately I donโt shop weekly for beer so I was addressing the issue of what to buy. You said staff will help if you ever asking anyoneโs advice the first thing they say is my favorite isโฆโฆ my advice is simple just have a rating system or give samples out something so we are just not picking out cool looking labels. I used to shop on the store on 9w upstate I know you do a great job selling craft beers but you must admit there are many more small breweries than there were 25 years ago so you must adapt to the newer environment that is all Iโm saying but you are sticking to your guns and what you did before does not always work on what is best now. I said my...
ย ย ย Read moreMy favorite craft beer megastore! I've had a bunch of jumbo boxes shipped to me (almost always free 1-day UPS ground shipping to Queens) and I've visited the store in person countless times. They carry all of my favorites from Marlowe, Mortalis, Evil Twin NYC, and Parish. They also have a ton of hard to find stuff from de Garde, Side Project, 3F, Anchorage, Forgotten Road, Fonta Flora, Casita, RAR, and countless others. I usually end up grabbing some Crafted Mead too. There's a huge selection of international beers, local beers, over 20 draft beers with crowler fills, hard seltzer/cider/tea/cocktails, and endless cases of macros. I would check canning dates for room temperature IPAs (they're far far better at pulling older hops from shelves than most stores but they have a huge inventory and can miss a few at times) otherwise I've only had extremely positive experiences here. The only thing I'd change is to merge the in-store and online rewards programs but zero complaints since the bonus cash/credit you can earn is pretty friggin...
ย ย ย Read moreThis craft beer mecca has great potential but falls short of being the Costco of beer on several fronts. The staff genuinely tries to be helpful but didn't seem very knowledgeable. Twice the cashier rung up vastly wrong amount for my bill. He got it right the third time but it took some convincing. While the beer selection is massive it's not all that interesting and I fear they are not turning inventory over quickly enough (maybe, but I was one of the only patrons in the store). The majority of the shelf space is dedicated to craft beer by country (it would be nice if they had a section for local CT/NY breweries). Their web site is currently broken but some day you may be able to place an order online. Good keg selection, mediocre cigar selection, decent selection of basic brewing supplies (eg. wet yeast). The biggest problem is really the prices which are the highest I've seen anywhere. As such I wouldn't go out of your way to shop here unless you need something unique in a pinch or a...
