La Ferneteria, located in the Bellas Artes area of Buenos Aires, is a restaurant that unfortunately left much to be desired. While the ambiance is charming and the location is convenient, the overall dining experience fell far short of expectations, especially considering the high prices.
Food: 2/5 We ordered the Fettuccine with mushrooms and the grilled chicken with vegetables. The Fettuccine was decent but unremarkable—nothing about it stood out as memorable or particularly well-executed. The grilled chicken, however, was a disappointment. It was overcooked, dry, and lacked any discernible flavor. The accompanying vegetables were fine, but they couldn’t salvage the dish. For a restaurant with such high prices, the quality of the food was underwhelming.
Service: 2/5 The service was below average. The staff seemed disengaged and inattentive, and there was a noticeable lack of warmth or professionalism. To make matters worse, after paying with a credit card, the waiter explicitly asked for a tip, stating that the credit card payment didn’t include gratuity. This felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, leaving a sour taste after an already mediocre meal.
Value for Money: 1/5 The prices at La Ferneteria are, frankly, offensively high for the quality of food and service provided. To add insult to injury, the bottled water was outrageously overpriced at 7,000 pesos for a 500ml bottle. This felt like a blatant overcharge, especially in a city where dining options abound at more reasonable prices.
Overall: 2/5 While La Ferneteria has a lovely setting, the combination of mediocre food, subpar service, and exorbitant prices makes it difficult to recommend. There are far better dining options in Buenos Aires that offer superior quality and value for money. Unless significant improvements are made, this restaurant is unlikely to leave a positive impression on diners.

Read moreThe food is ok, the service is awful. The waiter was nice, but the staff is focusing on events, not regular customers. There was a lady taking chairs to other parts of the room, another was giving orders across the room to staff members. Then a curtain was thrown over my back and head saying "sorry", not asking me for permission or offering a difference place. Then during my stay my chair was kicked several times and when I complain, the owner points out my discomfort is out of place instead of offering apologies for his junior staff. I sensed the poor management. The staff was nice but the place is run poorly. I don't recommend this place. The location is nice, but the experience is just having...
Read moreOrdered the aubergine/melanzane alla parmigiana/eggplant Parmesan. The aubergine is chewy, not cooked well either cheese overloaded on top. Aubergine/eggplant is one vegetable that needs to be cooked fully. The whole rush was tasteless and chewy, it felt like I was chewing on strips of leather. Horrible! Penne al ragù was sweeter than we like but it’s just okay, not great!
The waiter didn’t bother to check in to ask if we wanted anything. We were hoping to ask for more focaccia bread as they have just one small piece for the 2 of us. That’s the only thing that...
