Augusto Ushuaia — Restaurant in Ushuaia

Fabulous place to eat with a diverse menu. We actually went here twice. The first day we got lemonade, the shrimp risotto, the hamburger, and the fries with fried eggs. They were all good, but the shrimp risotto was AMAZING! Every bite was delicious! Unfortunately it was so good that I ate it before I got a picture. The lemonade was really good too - freshly made and had mint in it. Very refreshing. The second night we got the Argentinian steak and grilled trout along with the lemonade, fries with fried eggs, and an Oreo milkshake. The steak tasted amazing. Very thick and juicy. I think the trout may have been salmon. It had two sauces that came with it they took the dish to a whole other level! One was a tomato based salsa and the other was orange colored that I have no idea what it was, but they greatly enhanced the entire dish. I would highly recommend this place…just be prepared it was on the more expensive side for two people and was around $95 for two people...

Fantastic food at great prices in a great spot. We were greeted by staff that could speak many languages.

The steak was fantastic. Even though we ordered medium, it was cooked to medium well, well-done but it was still quite juicy.

The fries were possibly the best I’ve ever had. I rarely order fries but given the unique flavour, we gave them a try and it was a fantastic choice.

The off-menu special: lamb, pasta combo was a bit unique so we thought we’d try it. It was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary but it was made with quality ingredients.

We found the bread to be a bit harder than we’d prefer but that seems to be across the board in Argentina.

Our waitress, Lucia was fantastic to deal with. Really friendly, helpful, and made us feel really welcome.

Será una reseña larga pero demostrará el porque de mi clasificación.

Hoy en día, premiamos los lugares que sirven porciones de comida exorbitantes a precio estándares. No significa que esos lugares no tengan sus méritos, pero siento que hemos dejado a un lado los restaurantes que ofrecen una experiencia gastronomica completa y que se proponen llegar a la excelencia. Me complace decir que Augusto persigue esa visión.

Empezando por lo principal, la comida brilla por su exelente calidad. Verás opciones que solamente un profesional podría elaborar y otras más clásicas pero no por eso menos apetecibles. Obligado preguntar por la sugerencia del cheff.

En cuanto a los vinos, no probé ninguno. No podría decir mucho pero si puedo agregar que cuenta con una gran variedad. Estoy seguro que encontraras una botella ideal.

El ambiente es elegante, no hay una sobredosis de mesas como otros lugares y sentís que tenés tu propio lugar para comer. La música está a un volumen a corde de la situacion y ya quisiera tener la vajilla que utilizan.

Por último y más importante, el servicio. La dedicación del personal no lo he visto en otro lugar.

Por un lado tenemos al chef, su sugerencia es lo que tiene que ser. Un plato especial y exclusivo de ese día hecho con especial cuidado gracias a la inspiración del cocinero (por día hay más de una sugerencia).

Por último, los mozos. Claramente su trato es muy cordial y agradable, pero voy a decir algo que casi nunca se menciona. Ellos van aun más allá. Saben moverse de manera sutil, silenciosa y rápida. No te sentís invadido por su presencia. Intentan hacer el menor ruido posible (dentro de lo lógico, en lo restaurante la velocidad lo es todo y es ridículo pedir que no hagan un solo ruido). En cierto que las mesas están distribuidas de tal manera que pocas veces el mozo tiene que pasar a tu lado para llegar a otra mesa. Pero a pesar de eso, se nota que son profesionales que fueron capacitados para con cautela.

Claramente hay opciones más baratas, pero tampoco es la más cara. Y más si te das cuenta que el precio incluye todo lo anteriormente mencionado.

Mi estadía en Ushuaia fue corta y hay muchas cosas que no hice de manera deliberada con el objetivo de volver y tener experiencia nuevas y únicas. Pero espero ansiosamente hacer una excepción y pasar la noche en Augusto nuevamente.
