An absolutely lovely experience. They do a nice table service, the food selection is decent, the plating is delightful to the eye, the drinks are priced reasonably. I will say they have no scotches, bourbons, whiskeys, vodka or anything like that but they have a decent wine selection about 4-5 beers to pick from and a nice variety of Soju. The atmosphere is somehow both popular and busy but calm and silver service. I 10/10 will be returning to this gem of Korean and Japanese flavour. They also make some of the better korroke I've had. They do mild and spicy so you don't have to fear the food being too much to handle if you are a little more vanilla as well. They are very accommodating but I do recommend booking as they are very busy. My date and I arrived reasonably early in service and were still lucky to get a table for two without booking. The customers were friendly and interactive too. If you see something you like the look or smell of don't hesitate to ask what it was. All in all it was worth the trip and like most gems in the CBD it is on the outskirts. Take the time to visit this restaurant, you won't regret it if you like Asian style dining. They have long stemmed spoons and forks but also have stainless steel chopsticks for those of us who can use chopsticks. If you get a dish that doesn't have rice or noodles you can order some separately to complete the mains in a proper fashion.
Go to Be Won and treat yourself. You'll thank yourself after for...
Read moreCame here for an early dinner with my friend right it opened at 5:30pm and already there were a few people having food.
We were both craving the K.F.C so we ordered the boneless sweet chilli flavour, as well as the kimchi pancake. Kimchi pancake came first and we couldn't wait to dig in since we were both quite hungry. The crust was so so crispy, and they were generous with the kimchi and onion portion which was great. The natter to filling ratio was pretty much perfect and we both really enjoyed this dish. The fried chicken came a little later and we thought the presentation was pretty authentic, just like what you get in a fried chicken place in South Korea. However, the first bite in we knew it was far off from being the real deal. The batter wasn't crunchy enough with that crispy texture I always look for in Korean fried chicken. Though the sauce was similar 3.5/5 I would say. The radish that came with it was not as sour/ pickled as I wanted it to be, but I suspect it's because it's been adapted to the local palette.
Overall, I thought it was an okay Korean restaurant. My friend did think the service could have been better as one or two staff members weren't attentive or quick enough to respond, when the restaurant was...
Read moreVery cozy place and very very delicious. Definitely value for money as the owners did not skimp on quality nor quantity. Ordered the original korean fried chicken, the garlic soy fried chicken, the beef bulgogi japchae and the jajangmyeon.
The fried chicken is very very good. Original style tastes best in my opinion as it has a clean chicken taste, perfectly salted and juicy as well as crunchy. For the garlic soy, I felt that it was a bit overseasoned but that is my own personal preference in this instance as my partner seem to love it.
The beef bulgogi japchae although smaller in quantity, should definitely not be missed as the beef they used are of good quality that you can actually taste and has deep umami. This is not those cheap thin slices you find in asian groceries. The jajangmyeon here also deserves recommendations as this restaurant is one of few places in Adelaide that actually does it properly and does it justice as the dish requires high heat and lots of oil and fire, which not alot of restaurants are willing go the extra mile for.
This place is a gem. Will definitely come back....
