Where to start ? The service, the food quality or variety ? All appalling in short. Not very good service from the time we sat down the chopsticks box was empty and the waitress didn’t even check that. I’m not sure how she thought we were going to eat the food with. We asked for chopsticks then after few minutes another waiter came with 30 non disposable chopsticks holding them with both hands one on each end which is very hygienic (NOT) and asked me to put the rest for him in the box. Then we ordered a Ramin soup to share. We asked the same waiter to bring two bowls and went and never came back. Then we raised our hand to him to let him know that we were still waiting he gestured with one finger in the air to say that I’ll be there in a minute but still didn’t come. Anyways we couldn’t eat the Ramin as the supposedly beef was full of fat. The broth had bad taste and noodle was still stuck together as if it was just taken out of a cheap back and put in the microwave to serve. The sushi train belt didn’t have many options available to choose from. Many of the labeled sections were empty as the shop focus was on the online orders to fulfil rather than on the diners. It looked like a train with empty passengers. The only positive thing that there wasn’t a waiting line to be seat but that made sense after...
Read moreI am an avid fan of sushi, and a frequent visitor to Sushi Train, Kintaro and any other purveyor of Japanese deliciousness. With that being said, I am sad to say that this (Norwood) branch is the only one I have encountered to date at which I had a poor experience. While the food is acceptable, the staff that we encountered were unenthusiastic, inattentive and in general exuding an air of annoyed ambivalence. In an instance where we wished to order something off the menu and tried to speak to a seemingly unengaged staff member, we were rather abruptly and rudely cut off, as we must have interrupted some sort of a dialogue (not that one could be observed, or that any other way of attracting attention was apparent). Furthermore, when after 15 minutes of waiting the last few items that we ordered still hadn't come out, despite them being ordered explicitly with the order repeated (so it shouldn't have been possible for them to simply get missed), we decided to leave rather than suffer the indignity of dining there any further. All in all - a very poor experience, so I suggest you do yourself a favour and take the 5 minute drive to the nearby Payneham Sushi...
Read moreYet again another horrible experience, we keep justifying coming back here because of convenience and the food is consistent in that is good. However the customer service is the most terrible I have ever encountered, today being the absolute worst. One women in particular, doesn’t smile, doesn’t talk, doesn’t take interest in coming over to take your order and is rude. The only male on tonight also wasn’t going around to take orders - this is a common occurrence in that you have to try and get there attention constantly. We actually up and left today because we weren’t getting served and there was no food on the train. If you are wanting a kintaro feed without this inexcusable behaviour I would make the 10 minute drive from Norwood to brickworks kintaro. The staff and customer service there is lovely and they go above and beyond to be happy and attentive, there is always FRESH food on the train. Seriously would not recommend Norwood...
