I'm changing this review. Yes the food and drinks are nice, if a bit expensive, but they do not make up for the rudeness of one particular bouncer in the nightclub. I no longer go to the Elephant, and if friends are going out then I make sure we stay away. I was sitting down, resting (not drunk) while my friends were dancing and the bouncer asked me to stand up. I assumed he wanted to check if I was drunk so I said, "no worries" and stood up. He went back to the corner and so I sat down again. Next thing I know he comes back over and tells me to get out. Surprised, I walked down the back stairs, leaving my friends dancing and went outside. Waiting for my friends I got chatting to the other bouncer, who was friendly outside. This bouncer had absoltely no problem talking with me politely, and since it was late at night and nobody else was around, he had nothing else to do anyway. Then the first bouncer comes back down and says, "go away or I'll call the police". I explained I was waiting for my friends and he said, "they can't be very good friends if they left you out here alone". So I went and waited about 10 meters away where I wouldn't be arrested. Maybe reading this you will think I was drunk or rude. But that is not the case. I did not argue when being kicked out, and I was not...
Read moreI read some of the reviews about the pub before deciding to book and decided to look into it more closely. What drew me to the venue was the price point of the menu which ranges from 16 for a burger to around the forty dollar mark for a variety of meals.
I booked a table for 12 in the upstairs function room. I felt that the reviews about the lack of an authentic British pub decor was accurate as there were no pictures on the walls or anything that referenced Britain....not even a picture of the King. 😂 The function room was noisy with other groups there which also detracted from the atmosphere.
Slightly negative things aside, what really stood out and what matters most is the service which I was impressed by. I was always greeted with a smile and sure, you have to order full pints downstairs, but the staff were happy to take the drinks upstairs for us. What I was also impressed with was how quickly meals came out, the quality of the food and the portion sizes which were generous. I had the pork roast for $25. The Yorkshire pudding was amazing. So was the rest of the meal.
Overall, I would be happy to go to the pub again.
Thank you to the staff at...
Read moreNice quaint little pub off the main street so its nice and quiet during the day for some knockoff drinks or lunch, its only a small pub but there is plenty of seating in the bar area with booths if you are after a bit more privacy or there is a nice outdoor seating area out the front as well. There is plenty to choose from with beers on tap including local, boutique and overseas beers, i think i counted about 15 beers on tap. We ordered some lunch and the lady who served me did seem a bit inexperienced but i think she was a European foreigner so maybe she was a backpacker as she made a couple of errors on the order and didn't really seem to know the menu but we got it soughted in the end 😀. Food was on par for what you would expect for pub grub and the prices were quite reasonable too. Only disappointment was a salad we ordered came out as about 80% greens and it had some potato which was a bit undercooked, so for me that was abit...
