After hearing good things we went to The Greek on Halifax for my birthday the other night. We were welcomed and seated straight away with a bottle of water and were quite happy at that point. We perused the menu and deliberated on what we were going to choose for our meals. We then waited a considerable time and had to gain a waiters attention for service. It was quite early, 5:40pm and they were busy laying tables so a little grace was given. We ordered our meals and were convinced to also take a Greek salad to break up the meal which we obliged. The entrees came out within 5 minutes of ordering but were quite underwhelming considering their price as well as not being overly warm. Once finished the table was cleared and shortly after our mains were also brought out. I let the waiter know that my cutlery was also taken and he came back with a fork. Which by itself made it quite hard to eat my seafood and rice dish. In saying this the waiter was quite nice and obliging but to bring out just a fork when I told him my cutlery was taken, please. Anyway, I had the seafood mains and my wife had the Colossus. Both these dishes although nice, were also quite underwhelming considering the price. The colossus had salad on it and we were a little annoyed as we were persuaded to buy an extra salad for $18 which was basically some cucumber, tomato and a slice of feta. After finishing we were ready to leave but were then presented with the desert menu which I recommend in future be given at the start to help people decide on their order. We had a look but due to our luke warm mood we declined. Overall we left full but unsatisfied. Maybe this was due to all the good reviews and high expectations. We went to a cocktail bar up the road for a couple of drinks which ended up making the night finish...

BEWARE: FOUND SHARP PIECE of PLASTIC in my LAMB SHANK, $30 meal only given $14 off total meal bill on Thursday night 23-11-17. Disgraceful!!! Very, very disappointed as I was taking a friend out for her birthday meal & we were going to a show straight afterwards. She had the same with a salad side. Showed the waitress the piece of plastic & she said she would see what could be done. Said they could do me another lamb shank but we didn't have time for that so I declined. Then waitress came back with they can give me the salad for free. My friend explained that the salad was for her & that I hadn't had any of it. So then I was only offered the price of the salad off the total meal. I couldn't continue to eat the rest of my lamb shank as I didn't know what else I would find in it. I didn't have time 2 argue over this encounter as now we were running late for our show. When I paid for the meal at the counter the young man behind it smirked & said in a very happy tone "I hear you got a surprise in your meal?!" I was far from impressed as I was made to feel as though I had planted it myself which is something I would never ever do. I would rather pay double for a meal then go looking for discounts in that form of manner!!! Before the plastic it was a great meal with good flavours & was thinking would have to come back again. Now after that treatment, NO WAY, Advise others...

We dined here again in Septerber 2022 but were a little underwhelmed. Service was great but somehow the food didn't live up to our expectations. We couldn't fault it the first time we visited but this time it seemed to be lacking the love, sadly. Food was fine, just not amazing.

The best food is here - deliciousness on a plate! I had the vegetarian moussaka with a Greek salad and it was so good. I tried the souvlaki (lamb & chicken) which was soft, succulent & flavoursome and served with fluffy pillows of warm pita bread. The best dish was the Krokettes - zucchini & cheese balls lightly fried & served with skordalia. They were to die for!!

Couldn't fault the service - our wait staff were friendly & attentive on a super busy night as the restaurant was packed. Can thoroughly recommend The Greek.

Edit: We dined here again recently (so 3 years after our first visit) & while the food was good, it just didn't seem to have that special quality that it had on our first visit. Table service was...

First and foremost, props on the plants. The interior gives a very homely vibe to the restaurant and it was very lovely to sit in. The decor made me feel like I was in someones dining room with all the picture frames and the funky chairs on the ceiling are a nice touch. The food is good, but left a bit to be desired. Ordered a Thalassina Seafood Platter and the Olympian Meat Platter, which were quite a large serving on both sides. I did prefer the seafood platter because it had a larger variety of seafood available to try. The meat platter I felt should be star of a Greek restaurant, but it just didn’t feel that way. There was a lot of chicken and not much of the lamb that I love Greek food for, and not too sure on the sausages. The meat platter was pretty chewy in the mouth so it just wasn’t my favourite. Desserts one of the dishes we had Loukoumathes. They were delicious, simply couldn’t go wrong with it. Service was great, all the staff were very kind and attentive. Overall, not bad.
