The below experience happened about a month ago… I had been deciding if I should leave a negative review or not, however after some deliberation I have decided that it is necessary for me to do so.
This was actually the first time my wife and I have been able to get out to a restaurant in 6months due to pregnancy and having a baby. After reading that you had a “Kids Zone” for our 3yo we were expecting a great experience and were left feeling very disappointed.
After finishing our first drinks very early on in the evening we weren’t once asked if we would like another beverage and when we would try to get the attention of a waiter/ress we were ignored. Then later on in the evening when we were actually still planning to order more items and even get some dessert, a waitress abruptly and extremely poorly articulated to my wife that the next booking was there and that they needed the table (we were never informed at the beginning that the table had a time limit or that there was another booking needing the table later on), so my breastfeeding wife and my newborn baby needed to move elsewhere! Well this clearly assisted our decision to leave earlier than expected…
In the early hours of the next morning my breastfeeding wife and I became violently ill, starting with headaches and nausea and then resulting in many trips to the toilet (censored for your sake) which lasted for a few days.
I felt it was proper to contact the restaurant directly (which I did) and make them aware of our bad experience before leaving a bad review.
Regarding the lack of quality of service all they did was say “we will communicate with the team and make sure it won’t happen again” (from reading some other reviews this has happened quite a few times before).
In regards to the food/illness, basically replied saying that it was our fault for not cooking the food properly, however this is truely incorrect as if anything we overcooked the food due to my wife breastfeeding (last thing I wanted is for her to get sick and be unable to look after our newborn) and the fact we had a 3yo in the kids zone that kept asking us to come in and watch, so we would forget about the food in the hotpot and come back to the table where it would be WELL cooked and definitely NOT undercooked!
They also offered a free meal for our next visit…. Which clearly isn’t going to happen as we will never be returning to any restaurant that provides such shocking service and gives us food-poisoning…
This is a WARNING that they don’t have your best interests at heart and will shrug it off if anything does...

Cost-effectiveness: ★★★★☆(4.5) Sanitation: ★★★★☆(4.5) Kindness: ★★★★☆(4.5) Atmosphere: ★★★★(4) Quietness: ★★★☆(3.5) Amount: ★★★★(4) Taste: ★★★★☆(4.5) Quality: ★★★★☆(4.5) Improvements: I wish the menu had bamboo shoots and more seafood.
I've been to about 5 hot pot restaurants, but I dare to recommend this as the best hot pot restaurant among them.
Everyone will have a standard for choosing the best restaurant. There are various standards such as price, quality of food, quantity, interior, atmosphere, kindness of employees, taste, etc. It's not easy to say that everything is the best, but if all of the above standards are close to the best, the hotpot guy deserves to be the best restaurant.
The most impressive thing was the feeling of being treated. It was not a formal artificial treat like a luxury hotel or a fine dining restaurant, but I couldn't erase the feeling of being treated naturally throughout the meal time.
The friendly staff's guidance, hospitality, and minor consideration made me happy, the open kitchen and clean tableware eliminated my anxiety about hygiene, and the fast food and detailed and diverse menus were enough to satisfy my family's tastes. The amount and quality of the food were also fresh and plentiful. The interior and table arrangement were neat, and the lighting was also in harmony. Even though there were many customers, the noise is low, so I think it is a perfect place for family to eat. Even I, who don't like spending money eating out, couldn't get rid of my satisfaction during the meal.
It's a really good place, so I want to enjoy this place alone and let no one know, but I leave a long review because I hope this wonderful restaurant will prosper further and open more stores.
Please refer to the pretty pictures posted by others. I hate...
Read moreDear management of The Hotpot Guy 9... I am very disappointed in my experience here at your restaurant.
This was my first time in your restaurant and will be my last time too.
First thing, you’re customer service is not good, it was absolutely appalling. Well using the walkie-talkie headsets, making it seem like you can't hear us, acting like you're in concert, is absolutely worried.
Second thing, it seemed like you didn't care that we were there, and was trying to get us out the door as soon as possible, it made us feel that you cared more about your culture of people, then us as foreigners who are not good enough to be in your restaurant.
Third thing, you try to blame us and ask us what we wanted to do about a hair in our food, at no point you asked straight away or apologise, about this situation, it is absolutely appalling, aswell As we said we didn't know if one of your team members hairs have dropped in to the salad and vegetables, and ask putting it into a food. As you'll see photos attached as well. Get your food standards up to scratch as well.
so maybe get your customer service up to scratch and treat every person that walks your door as a valued customer, and it doesn't matter how much or how little the gonna buy.
I will not be recommending this...
