I recently had the pleasure of visiting Boatys Airlie Beach, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff who made me feel right at home. Extremely bad service by one young lady on the bar. We were treated like she personally knew us and we'd done something absolutely horrible to her just by being there. When asked what sort of tacos were on the menu, we were told, well duh, taco stuff. We were sitting as a family of 7 and her demeanour to my two older daughters and myself was what can only be described as bloody horrific. As locals we've attended boaties often over the past 5 years, but not since covid restrictions have eased. The difference is notable. On our exit, I did have a quick chat to the lone fella behind bar who I presume is a manager or fm - he was lovely and apologetic and offered free drinks but as we had our 15month old grandson we were headed home for an early night. Just gotta say her attitude bordered on the offensive and unfortunately until there's a change in customer service manner we won't be putting our money there any more but will look for more hospitable local pubs. I'm not a "Karen" so my review is only made because I was bloody gobsmacked by her...

l just attended bingo night where the first two prizes (breakfast for two & three bottles of wine) were awarded, but the final full house prize-a $200 bar tab-was never given out.

During a speed round, the caller spoke over loud music, and I heard "60." To be sure, I quickly checked with my friends before calling bingo when my last number (70) was called. My card was correct, and I even went on stage, only to be disqualified for checking with my friends first. Then, another player called bingo, went on stage, and had all the correct numbers on her card—but not the last number that was called. Because of this, she hadn't called bingo at the right time and was also disqualified.

Instead of continuing until there was a winner, the host just ended the game, meaning no one won the final prize, despite advertising "guaranteed winners."

I had already spent money on drinks and food there, but after this I left and I won't be returning. I feel completely wronged, as I had a full house and...
