Australia Day afternoon sundowners and nibbles with the Bride at this well TikTok'd location which we thought we’d try out. Entering you could see the vibe of Maya in the Valley with a similar crowd comprising the mandatory social media authorities and style icons, including those seated next to us at the bench facing the lovely views over Kangaroo Point, towards the CBD and over to Taylor Range. In the heat we opted for a passionfruit margarita and their Sunsets Spritzer (tangerine, bay leaf & soda – pictured) which were splendid after a little bit of a frustrating staggered delivery. First round of food was the dip of beetroot hummus, tahini, sumac and dill which all interacted well with the Roman flat bread taken to just the right warmth and char level. The beetroot flavour was quite mild but when the dill hit it really opened up the enjoyment of all ingredients. Off to a somewhat pleasant beginning with the drinks and starter but the seating at this stage was becoming a little uncomfortable with no back support and the server not being able to figure out how to lower the blind to the right position (similar the other two mechanism's level) to accommodate the view while preventing sun blindness. We were about to pull up stumps ready for the next venue but thought we should sip another round of drinks and try one of their smaller plate offerings having been hooked by the Instagram images and Google reviews seen in previous days. Tender buttermilk fried chicken with green herb sauce sounded like a straightforward goer and the photo via the table QR code menu appeared pleasing with the fried foul presented with a drizzle of green. This is where we hit a snag unfortunately. The portion size was great, and for $15 even more exciting in these troubled times. However, the sauce application was far from a drizzle or served on the side instead coated the dunked thigh meat like a second skin fully covering the buttermilk batter. Now I am a lover of fresh herbs and the sauce they can create and while peckish, the dish was near inedible and couldn’t be finished. The green herb sauce was way too overpowering and thick with an unpleasant texture. A disappointing end to the afternoon here. Location and ambience have potential, we could only imagine the superior kitchen staff were on leave being Australia Day and a Sunday having let that through the pass. Can say we've been and tried it there but probably won't return.

If you're looking for the perfect blend of atmosphere, views, and expertly crafted cocktails, Sunsets Rooftop Bar is where your search ends. Perched above the city, this gem offers panoramic views that live up to its name – sunsets here are nothing short of magical. From the moment you step onto the rooftop, you're greeted with a relaxed yet stylish vibe. The ambiance is a perfect balance between upscale and laid-back, making it ideal for both romantic evenings and fun nights out with friends. The drink menu is creative and well-curated, featuring a mix of classics and innovative signatures. I highly recommend their house specialty – the "Golden Hour" – a citrusy, refreshing cocktail that’s as photogenic as the view. Their small plates and shareables are equally impressive, with flavors that complement the drinks without overshadowing the experience. The staff? Warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. They made us feel welcome and added to the overall enjoyment of the evening without being intrusive. But the crown jewel is undeniably the view. Watching the sky change color while city lights flicker on below is an experience you won’t forget. Whether you're visiting the city or live here year-round, Sunsets Rooftop Bar is a must-visit. Come for the views, stay for the vibe – and don’t forget your camera.

Dear Sunset Rooftop Team, I just wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for the most wonderful afternoon we recently spent at Sunset Rooftop. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect — the stunning views over Brisbane (with the Gabba right in front of us), the beautiful decor with your earthy tones, dried florals, and gorgeous candlelit arrangements — it created such a warm and inviting atmosphere that we instantly fell in love with. We were a group of girlfriends celebrating, and your team made sure everything was seamless. The grazing platters were fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, and the cocktails were a real highlight — not only delicious but also so pretty and thoughtfully garnished. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive — we felt so well looked after the entire time. We left with full hearts, full bellies, and so many beautiful memories (and photos!). Thank you again for such a special experience. We’ll absolutely be back and will be recommending Sunset Rooftop to all our friends.

AMENDED REVIEW BASED ON 18/01/2025 VISIT - I set Sunsets an email regarding this on Monday 19/05 and received no response still as at Thursday 22/05.

I recently visited Sunsets, last Sunday for a friend’s engagement party and as much as I would love to have said my experience was amazing, it unfortunately was not and I do not feel that the extent to which I was aggrieved was adequately remedied. The first mishap occurred when a waitress split a tray of mimosas and other drinks onto my dress, which understandably was an accident. However, my ability to empathise with those in hospitality and hear the initial apology did not make the situation any less humiliating, isolating and embarrassing. Whilst I was thankful that I was handed towels, I still had to head into the bathroom and wash my dress in a sink to ensure there was no lingering smell of alcohol through the night, as well as attempt to dry it in a unisex bathroom, with no one checking in or asking how I felt or if I was okay.

The second situation happened when another waitress accidentally dropped glass onto the ground and the glass shards flew into my shoe, lodging itself between my toes. My friend had to carefully remove the glass from my shoe to ensure that it would not cut me. Once again whilst the waitress apologised, I did not feel that the response was adequate, with no manager or supervisor coming over to determine reasonable remedies. I can understand that it was a very busy day with high demands and I can empathise with those circumstances, yet at the same time, I felt that my lack of ‘causing a scene’ in that moment meant that the gravity of the situation and the possible injury I could have incurred was disregarded and the duty of care I would hope to experience in an established restaurant was beyond lacking.

Having visited Sunsets before I know that a high level of service can be experienced, however, over this weekend that experience was greatly disillusioned for me, and having wanted to visit for future events such as my birthday, this experience has led me to now be discouraged from making or attending any future bookings. Whilst I wanted to spend that day celebrating my friend and her milestone, I truly was just left feeling upset, anxious and disregarded and had it been any other event, I would have immediately...

I went in person to make the reservation about 3 weeks before my Bday. We enjoyed the view and the place’s atmosphere was really good. We spoke with a very friendly hostess at the entrance who didn't raise any concerns about the cake or anything else at all and she was super helpful in making the reservation for 13 people. We arrived at the place on 17/02, gave my name and waited at the deck whilst our tables were getting ready. Once they organized the tables were apart from each other and we were informed that we could not have the tables together to avoid noise in the apartments downstairs. which in my opinion was completely nonsense how they opened a rooftop to the public in a residential building. I chose to ignore his demand and put the tables together, as we were not informed about this when made the reservation. The manager told us off and because was my Bday I offered to lift the tables back in the same place to avoid noise downstairs and the discussion ended there. Then we ordered 5 banquets, and the food arrived, they hadn't brought any plates and no cutlery. They dumped the food on the table and made no effort to explain what was coming. In the end, after they stored the cake for us brought it up, and lit the candles, they said that we could not eat the cake because the food was brought from outside and they could lose their food license. What a horrible customer service experience. The place has everything to be amazing but the lack of care, especially from the manager to train staff to inform the policy to customers ruined my birthday experience if wasn't for my dear friends that were with me. The food was really good to be fair, nonetheless, the service was below average. I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place for events. It is just a bar to hang out with people. I am so...
