This was an unbelievable experience. Unbelievably bad that is! I went with a colleague for a morning catch up over a cold drink. My colleague asked for something cold and refreshing, the waitress said how about peppermint tea. My colleague thought "A cold peppermint tea sounds nice!" I ordered a Caramel Frappe, made with ice. The waitress was confused about what I wanted and after a number of failed attempts to explain, I pointed to the blender sitting behind her and said made with one of those. She seemed to have some semblance of understanding and asked if I wanted ice cream with that. Rather that continue trying to explain that a Frappe usually doesn't have ice cream, I simply said sure why not! The effort to make myself understood was becoming tiring.
You can imagine our surprise when the order arrived which was a HOT Peppermint tea, not cold, and a cold caramel milk! No cold tea and no Frappe!!!!!!!
When I pointed out to the waitress that's not what I ordered she said "That's what I thought you meant!" There was never ANY offer to actually take this away and bring me what I ordered. I said I wanted it made with ice! She just looked at me and said sorry! That's it! That was the full extent of the customer service. Out of shear exasperation and not wanting to cause a scene, I said that's fine I'll just drink it! I am NEVER going back there. The staff have a serious language barrier and it's a lucky dip on whether you will receive what you paid for!!! Also, the caramel milk wasn't that...
Read moreThe Chatterbox Café is located on the top level of the bustling Toowong Village Shopping Centre in Brisbane. Although it can get busy, the food quality and service remain top-notch. We visited on a Saturday morning and, despite the crowds, we were able to find a table. We ordered two coffees, a salmon bagel, and a smashed avocado on toast with haloumi. Ordering at the counter was smooth, and service to the table was quick and efficient. Both meals were delicious, with my bagel having lashings of fresh, tasty salmon with cream cheese and capers, while my wife's avocado toast was a generous serving with crispy toast smothered with creamy avocado, fried halloumi and cream cheese, accompanied by a tasty beetroot dip and fresh cherry tomatoes. The presentation was neat on stylish white crockery.
The ambience is laid back, casual, and relaxed, and the location is super convenient with the handy Kmart on the same level and ample, clean, and well-maintained toilets also on the same level. There's plenty of natural light streaming in from the skylights above, which also helps to make it a bright and fun place to enjoy a meal.
Parking in the centre is free for the first three hours.
We paid $40 for the bagel, avocado toast, and two hot drinks, which is pretty much what we've come to expect as Australia races over the hyperinflationary cliff. However, we highly recommend the Chatterbox Café for breakfast, brunch, or lunch with a nice vibe, friendly and fast service, and excellent...
Read moreToday Monday 27-07-2020. My partner and I stopped in for a coffee and cake. We ordered a Iced Chai Latte, Chocolate Thickshake and a Vanilla Slice. They were brought to the table. The Vanilla Slice was visibly dry and old, not like the ones in the cabinet. I took it back to the counter and told the girl it looked nothing like the ones in the cabinet and it was dry. Another girl brought the same one back and said it was put fresh in the cabinet today. The others were still frozen. I said I would chance one of the “frozen” ones. She brought me one to the table it was fresh and moist and not frozen. It was fresh unlike the dry old piece first served. I told the girl not to serve up dry , old food and charge full price. She gave me an excuse it was what their supplier had given them. It’s Monday, they most likely had not had a delivery since Friday at least. It’s poor quality and poor service to blame a supplier when there were much fresher slices in the cabinet. No manager on site apparently. They have my details and asked a...
