Loved our dinner at Frankie's Smokehouse Woolloongabba tonight. This is the best BBQ I've had. We shared between two of us the Platter for One, 6 wings (white alabama and golden Carolina), brisket pit beans, zesty corn and onion rings. Definitely more than enough for two people. They offer take home boxes for leftovers. The drinks are really reasonably priced and you get a 5% discount on drinks when you sign up for the app via a QR code at the table. The hotlink was bursting with flavour with a little cheese and a little spice and was really well cooked. The brisket was melt in your mouth and had a great flavour and the pulled pork was really what made this the best BBQ I've had. I find pulled pork normally lacks pork flavour and this one doesn't. My husband found it a little salty but I like my food well seasoned so I was happy. The coleslaw was nice and creamy and fresh. I loved the bread roll. It was soft, airy and pillowy inside with a great crunchy crust. The seasoning on the chips has a great unique flavour and pickle had a great touch a sweetness. The bbq sauce that is served on the side was super tasty too. The onion rings were beyond good. So crunchy and the onion inside is caramelized and it's served with a delicious ranch. I'm not a beans fan but these were great. It's a combo of bean types and has a little kick at the back of your palate with a nice smokey flavour and you can see little bits of brisket mixed in. The corn was nice and sweet with a little bbq char on the edges. The wings were perfectly cooked, nice and juicy but crispy skinned. The sauces we had with the wings were both so good. I loved the look of the restaurant. It has a great fresh relaxed feel with some unique lighting and great wall graphics. It's a great mix of brightness mixed in with brick and a slight industrial look. We sat inside which was a nice temperature. They also have a couple of outdoor eating areas including an area next to their massive smoker. It really is impressive. We were there during daylight but it looks like it would be beautiful lit up at night. The playlist in the restaurant was awesome! The staff were amazing. The waitress we had was very explanatory and friendly but the guys at the register were obvious BBQ/food enthusiasts and had some awesome recommendations. Definitely a must visit if you're in Brisbane. Thanks for a...
Read moreWe booked on line 2 weeks ago and turned up to find that a third of the menu was sold out and told to book our food prior to attending, we were not made aware of this online.
The lady who showed us to our table was pleasant and personable and I thought that it was going to be a good night.
That was until the food was delivered. The presentation reminded me of the Sureshank Redemption so somewhat prison like.
We spent $110 on a platter for two and a third of the plate was made up of pretty ordinary coleslaw.
The pulled pork was tasteless and non descript.... Quite honestly I ate it because I was hungry, this was by no means the worst of it. The beef looked great but tasted like heavily salted corned beef and was basically unpleasant and unpalatable.
No one ventured over during or after our meal to ask about our experience and to find out why our plates were still full when we left.
I have visited the US multiple occasions and the folks from Texas would disavow this place as fast as they could, this quality of food would not survive the retail market over there.
I recommend that the food prep is reviewed and the salt content reduced significantly. The general quality of the food needs to be elevated before I would consider attending again or making a recommend. This evening the only thing I got from this meal is indigestion and food stuck between my teeth also my wallet...
Read moreDon’t arrive early. We arrived at 7:27 for a 7:30 booking. We were told the table wasn’t ready yet, no problem that happens. Then the server says ‘you have to go outside!’ This came across a bit abrupt and rude, but she might be having a bad night. So we finally were called and taken to a dark corner with no light. I raised this with a young waiter who looked like a dear on headlights. He turned on some lights and promptly turned them off. He then came back and said the other people didn’t want the lights on. I asked him to go and let the manager know his reply ‘ she will tell you the same thing ‘ he said with arrogance of self entitlement. The manager do any came and apologised for the dark corner she was aware of the issue and had ordered lights for the corner and was waiting for an electrician.
The food - So much salt. Chicken wings 10/10 but where was the blue cheese sauce ? Pulled pork good sweet salty
Chips so much salt
Atmosphere Very sterile could benefit from wall art Forcing people to share a table does not create atmosphere
Overall Expect Al la carte prices without the service It’s a cheap bistro style service where you go to the counter to order your food, provided you have enough light to read the fine printed menu. You are given a buzzer just like your local RSL. When your buzzer goes it’s back up to the counter to collect your meal.
