Since the new manager/owner partnership started, the business is not what it once was. It would be different if they didn't have a sign to notify donations and good will, an public profile which brings repeat business. If a business is going to be charitable it should be they have enough for most people most of the time and choices, not just the scraps that they don't want. The number of people waiting outside is an idea of how many meals should be reserved. It seems since this became a franchise the new manager/owner doesn't really want to honour the advertising, but he knows he has to do so. Sometimes when a family managed/owned businesses branches out into a franchise the original vision of what the proprietor had in mind can be diluted. The co-business partners not in total agreeance with original ideas. It becomes more difficult, as more branches are created for the franchise king to "keep an ear to the ground", being monitor all his/her people. The quality of the food is good and affordable. It wouldn't be a topic of discussion if the food outlet was just giving away a bit of food now and then, but the signs are quite noticeable. Also, as the meals are being donated on a nightly basis the wholesale price of the ingredients can be claimed as a a tax deductible donation. So they are to some extent saving money on what would normally be discarded food. The store has started preparing to close earlier than usual before the end of the business day. On a Friday, it seems they closed the doors before the official time advertised. Avoid frequenting this food outlet late at night, when people can be antagonistic, and looking to step on others for self interest. I used to buy the lunches when I first arrived in Brisbane, but I might not now. Whether the product or service is for profit or not for profit all patrons should be treated equally. Charity services aren't advertising, then offering services at a fraction of what they advertise. Lately, it seems more people who aren't either social security recipients or living on the street have been siphoning from here like vampires at night. All...
Read moreMy recent visit to this restaurant for lunch left much to be desired. I must say, I was thoroughly disappointed with both the service and the quality of food provided.
Firstly, the atmosphere was quite unsettling. During my meal, I witnessed a distressing incident where the owner was engaged in a heated argument with one of the staff members in the kitchen area. It was uncomfortable to witness and certainly did not contribute to a pleasant dining experience.
As a customer, I believe that the atmosphere of a restaurant plays a crucial role in one's overall satisfaction. Such conflicts should be handled discreetly and professionally, away from the view of diners.
Secondly, the service was far from satisfactory. There seemed to be a lack of attention to customers' needs, and the staff appeared distracted, understandably so given the apparent tension in the kitchen.
Lastly, the quality of the food did not meet my expectations. When patrons pay for a meal, they rightfully expect it to be of good standard and taste. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my visit.
I would like to emphasize that my decision not to return to this restaurant is based on the experience I had and the genuine feedback I wish to provide. It is important for any business, especially in the service industry, to prioritize customer satisfaction and maintain a positive working environment.
I hope this review serves as constructive criticism. Improving upon these aspects will not only benefit future customers but also enhance the reputation of...
Read moreWhat a great find this little Indian takeaway shop is! My husband and I love Indian food and eat it a lot. We have been disappointed many times with curries being watered down and with very sparse servings, including at restaurants that have been expensive. We decided to try this place and got the chicken and spinach curry and the chickpea curry, both with saffron basmati rice. Both dishes were full of flavour, the chickpeas were a delight in the mouth and the chicken was moist and tasty. The curry sauce on both dishes was the perfect consistency, not at all runny. This shop is primarily geared for takeaway, with dishes already prepared, but there is a bench and a few stools where you can eat in if you want to. The prices are very reasonable and there is something else really positive about this place - there is a large sign in the window inviting any homeless people to come for a free meal half an hour before closing time - every night. Instead of keeping any remaining food till the next day, it all goes to homeless people. I will definitely keep supporting this business that has a...
