I’ve been wanting to go to this sinjeon for months but today I finally got to go and it was well okay . It’s like a 6/10
Firstly the area is nice , it’s loud and it’s not even the customers it’s the music and the workers . The tables take forver to be cleaned luckily my table was already clean but while waiting for our food and it would y take up to 10 mins for a worker to reloads while customisers are coming in and just sitting on a dirty table because no one cleaned it up. The shop is the smallest sinjon I’ve been to and well not the best.
Don’t get me wrong tho the workers were nice but most of the time idk what they were doing, it was either giving out food on their phone or just idk.
The variety is nice but there’s been more cheaper and bigger variety of dishes or packs they have at diff locations , I thought since this place was so well versed and always popular it would have a bunch of variety , it doesn’t have what I thought it would have.
The Kim Baba was good but really dry and there was so little buligogy like it had so much cheese u can see the image which made it taste pretty bland and not the best PLUS THE PORTION IS SO SMALL ITS A BIG BUT OTHER o LOCATIONS ITS LIEK DOIBLE THE SIZE PORTION REALLY DISAPPOINTING.
The Korean school lunch tray was really good, nice fluffy rice , the bulgoigy was nicely garnished and had lots of flavour and veggies. But had lots of oil remains. Salad was sad, it was god but it’s ligit only 2 strands of lettuce and thats it for $17 so sad . Kimbab was so disappointing on the school tray like I felt so werid , no FLABOUR tiniest big of carrot picked raffish Andddd more like u can obviously see . Such a dissappinemtn
The dumplings were good but tasted liek there had been fried a while ago and just not very fresh plus oil residue . The cheese/egg is so bad like no flavour and was horrible , I will only try the tobokki here because it seemed lien the only decent thing here.
The prices were so expensive and could’ve been better , overpriced portions disappointing and welll Overal decent experience this is like a 5/10 experience only going back to...
Read moreSinjeon is a leading (biggest and old of the oldest) Korean street food brand - operating since 1999 and with over 750 stores worldwide. They first hit our shores in Melbourne & Sydney before expanding to Brisbane. I haven't yet managed a visit to the Sunnybank Hills store, but was quite excited the second Brisbane outlet opened in the CBD as this was much easier for me to get to.
I visited with a friend for lunch and we decided to order a set A ($43) to get a good sampling of their offerings. This includes: choice of topokki - we had the cheese option ($3.50 extra) choice of kimbap - beef bulgogi choice of 2 drinks - bong bong (grape punch) & galbae (pear juice) fries - assorted fried snacks (fish cakes 8pc, seaweed rolls 4pc, dumplings 8pc) eggs - hard boiled egg halves for crushing and dipping in the topokki sauce
We also had a side of jabchae (fishcake filled with japchae noodle and veggie; UP 5pc for $10) which was part of their opening promotion.
It was a lovely meal overall and quite sufficient for 2. The topokki sauce stole the show, managing to deliver the perfect blend of spicy, savoury, and a bit of sweet. Don't forget to drizzle this magic over everything or for use it for dunking - your taste buds can thank me later.
I didn't think the kimbap was fantastic good, but still try a different flavour next time. The fried items are nice as an accompaniment but I felt they weren't enough of a star to make my starting lineup.
Notes you can browse the menu/order via QR code at each table paying online incurs a processing fee, or you can pay at the counter minimal customisation of sauces or alterations are possible as stores are required to follow the exact recipe from HQ in Korea the shop is pretty cozy and not really designed for groups - pairs/couples are fine but I'd cap it at 4 max or you'd struggle. I also recommend avoiding peak if you...
