Unaware of their business hour, we entered this little gem around 4.30 and Toni kindly welcomed us in to have a drink while he continued preparing the place to open. He extended his hospitality by allowing us to order the early dinner we needed to have. Thanks, Toni! You're such a legend.

He suggested us to order the pork with bamboo shoots served in chilli oil and pan fried prawn dumplings as they are his fave. Gotta say, they are mine at the end of the dinner. The wrap was tender yet firm and the fillings were well spiced. The sauce (chilli oil) was perfectly balanced which I'd say about 3/10 hotness. Although my friend prob would argue as she finished a bottle of water and the sakes we had after eating them.

I had the Tonkatsu ramen which had smooth flavour as Japanese ramens should be. I added chilli sauce half way and regretted it right away. The soup was nicer without. However, size was rather too big for me. Maybe because I filled up myself with the dumplings earlier. We need gap between dumplings and ramen, Toni!

The Tri-garlic ramen was also as smooth but as a mad garlic eater, I'd definitely ask for extra garlic 😁

Service was excellent. We appreciate Toni's kindness and patience in answering our questions and help with photos. We were there in early night so perfect place for conversation and hanging out. Definitely...

Gung ho dumpling has some amazing deals and prices for what you get! The grilled edamame were honestly my favourite dish. They were perfectly salted and flavoured. I would eat 3 bowls of them honestly. The 3 drinks for $20 was phenomenal during happy hour, so definitely get in on that during 530 to 630. It's definitely worth trying the variety dumpling mix before ordering more dumplings so you can get an idea of what variety you like as well! The customisation of dumplings is an amazing menu feature that is hard to take advantage of to its full benefit, because of how many varieties you can try. Most of the dumplings had delicious flavour, but nothing outstanding. The wontons had nice flavour as well.

The service staff were fantastic during the whole dinner service and the atmosphere is super nice as well. I'd recommend coming here to try it and see if it's your thing and I'll probably come back in future to give the other flavours a try to see if there's anything that stands out to myself...

Edit in response to your reply Tony. Firstly, thanks and I appreciate you replying. Having said that, I’m sorry but your reasoning isn’t the case this time. We actually were sat at the bar and completely ignored by floor staff and bar staff. Not even one further acknowledgement. Further, there was no QR code for us to use either. We actually spoke up at one stage but still no response. I get you were busy but there were quite a few in our same position and unhappy. I’d suggest you need more staff or accept less customers at a time, or at a minimum advise customers about waits as they sit.

Sat us at a table and that’s the last bit of service we received. Didn’t even acknowledge us again. We walked out after 20+ minutes of being completely ignored. We weren’t the only...

Just a bit gung ho about this newish dumpling place now. I've been lamenting that the dumpling options in Brisbane are subpar compared with the options in Melbourne, but Gung Ho dumplings may just be what I wanted. We ordered the pan fried pork and chives dumplings, which were crispy and juicy, spicy wontons (silky smooth, served with an amazing Sichuan garlicy sauce, although the filling compared to wanton wrapper ratio could be improved) and steamed chicken and prawn dumplings. We also ordered the tri-garlic ramen. The broth was flavourful and thick, nice and porky (yes I am fantastic with my descriptions), but the noodles were a tad overcooked. Very satisfied with this find anyway, much better than the other chain dumpling places I've tried!
