Went to the Brunch Bite Drag Show on Sunday as part of my Hens celebration. I was super excited, as I have never been to a Drag show before and had heard great things about the show.
The Queens did not disappoint and put on a fabulous show of what I was able to see from where we were seated.
My rating and disappointment come from when I first walked in and found the table/both we were seated at. Cloudland themselves let me down on my special day. My party was seated in a booth around the corner and furtherest booth from the stage. Despite booking my ticket back in October 2022 (when there were still 150 + tickets available) got the worst seats in the club. All tickets cost the same, no matter where you were seated.
I was only able to see less than half the show (this is the reason I booked in the first place). Then to top it off one of waiters spilled a drink all over our table, didn't apologise or come back and clean it up. Then to top it off, when they were serving desserts the same waiter totally missed our table. I asked another staff member who was walking by to let them know they had forgotten us (the waiter was caught rolling his eyes at our table when he was told). When the same waiter finally made it back to our table, he didn’t have enough desserts for all the guests at our table. We let him know and he just shrugged it off. I assumed he was going to go back and get more. We waited another 10 min before I was able to get another wait staff attention and explained the situation of the missing deserts. She went over and spoke to the waiter who was responsible, then came back and said sorry the kitchen is closed. I told her that it wasn’t good enough and explained how the same waiter had spilled a drink all over the table and never came back to clean it up, that there poor service we had experienced from him had put a dampener on my day.
I also saw wait staff eating leftover desserts that went back to the kitchen (because they hadn’t gone around to all the tables correctly) while we were waiting for the original bad-mannered waiter to return with a desert for the guest who missed out.
To top off the bad experience the lady we spoke to went back and spoke to the original waiter again. This time the original waiter who was responsible for both incidents came up to our table, and instead of apologizing to us for his bad service. He started by defending his actions of why he didn't come back with desert (his excuse was that he ran out of deserts on his platter) also didn't apologise for the drink spillage or not returning to clean up the mess when we brought that up with him.
We left the show early after that. This is not what I expected from the day and left feeling...
Read moreWhat an underwhelming experience overall Cloudland !!! After being told what an amazing looking venue Cloudland was we made an online booking for 8 adults for dinner last Saturday night. There were 4 Brisbane locals and 4 of us from interstate. We arrived around 7pm and ordered cocktails to start and have in the bar area downstairs. The 3 barman were all really abrupt , unfriendly and clearly all too full of their own self importance. We spent at least $700 on drinks before we even sat down over and hour and a half as our booking was at 8.30pm. Although some of the cocktails were the same they came in different glasses and some clearly much larger than others and when we questioned that we were told they would deal with the guy who was in training and said nothing more. They couldn't manage a smile between any of them. We then walked over to be seated for our meal where I clearly saw my name and booking time along with the table number and yet the girl about to seat us said "oh sorry , I have just accidentally cancelled your booking ". I replied " I just saw it there and she said yeah but someone is sitting there now ". I asked what that meant and she said I can't move those people ( although they had just been seated ). We were told they had no table available but showed us upstairs. We were taken to a bar area with cushions and low chairs that weren't at all suitable for dinner. In fact I had booked online and then also called as I had asked for a booth which I was told we were getting. We said this isn't suitable for dinner and for an hour we were kept waiting for complimentary drinks that they had offered. One girl that worked upstairs was a rude and uninterested and in her late 20s and when I approached her regarding our drinks she was too busy stroking another female staff members eyebrows to care less about us. COOPER ( another manager ) was the only person who cared and did all he could to make sure we could get a table downstairs for us. So at 9.30pm we finally sat down to eat. We enjoyed the food and ended up spending almost $2000 at Cloudland last Saturday night but certainly wouldn't bother going again after the treatment we received. Maybe it's because we are in our 40s and don't seem important to your young staff except for COOPER who really treated us with respect. Just a tip Cloudland, you don't know who maybe in your restaurant, where they are from, what they do for a profession and how much money they have to spend in your venue and if you want your venue to have a good reputation you should train your young staff to treat everyone with respect. It doesn't take much to be friendly and get a restaurant...
Read moreWe recently visited this venue for the bottomless brunch and, unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations—especially given the $99 per person price point.
We arrived a few minutes early for our 12 pm reservation, but no one greeted us. The staff actually seemed to avoid eye contact, so we patiently waited. Eventually, a waitress approached, while tying up her hair. She then had to “set” our table which was strange considering we had a booking that we had made a month previous so its not like our appearance was a surprise.
Despite being the only two customers there at the time, drinks took a while to arrive. The waitress didn’t explain any of the dishes, simply placing them down and leaving. She was very softly spoken and seemed quite shy. Our water glasses were never refilled after the initial pour; I had to get up and grab a water jug off the nearby stand.
While the food was beautifully presented, there were notable issues. The meat skewers although tasty were not even close to being the same size. One was considerably smaller to the other. The potato dish was severely overcooked and was somewhat smothered in sauce to hide the fact it was overdone…. The cocktails were particularly disappointing—one vodka-based drink tasted overwhelmingly of bitter lime rind, while the gin-based one had such an unpleasant flavour that I left it untouched at the far end of the table. It was clear it had been made with a very low-quality gin. Midway through the meal, we were told we could “upgrade” to better cocktails for an extra $25, which felt outrageous given the original cost of the brunch package.
We also had to go to the bar to order another drink, only to be told we couldn’t have one because my untouched gin cocktail was still on the table. We explained—again—that it was undrinkable, but it was never cleared away.
Dessert was the biggest disappointment. We were given a single, small portion to share—something that felt especially stingy given the $99-per-person price tag. Every other dish had been separate serves, so this felt inconsistent and underwhelming. Surely, we could have each been given our own serving.
We have enjoyed your bottomless brunch in the past and had expected a similar high standard. Unfortunately, this visit has left us extremely disappointed and has made us reconsider returning in the future, which is a shame given the beauty of your venue. Honestly that fact that you only had 2 other tables there at a lunchtime on a Saturday in the city spoke volumes to the fact you clearly overcharge on food and drinks that are just not...
